FEW WR TRAINS AFFECTED DUE TO BLOCK AT
SAYAN YARD IN SURAT - VADODARA SECTION
In connection with the ongoing work to increase speed of New Delhi - Mumbai route to 160 kmph, the work of laying of transition system using Geo cell & blanketing materials on the approaches and other related work will be undertaken at Bridge No. 471 at Sayan yard in Surat - Vadodara section. To carry out this work, a block of 4.30 hrs will be undertaken on UP line from 13.00 hrs, on Sunday, 18th June, 2023 and hence few Western Railway trains will be cancelled, partially cancelled, regulated and rescheduled.

Almost Rs.6.40 lakh realized in fines from unauthorized travelling through this surprise checking drive
In order to ensure hassle-free, comfortable travel & better services to all bonafide passengers and to deter ticketless travelling, special ticket checking drives are carried out at frequent intervals over Western Railway, in addition to the regular intensive ticket checking drives, especially in the Mumbai suburban section. In this very direction, a special ticket checking drive was conducted in local trains, including AC local trains. Similarly, a surprise check known as ‘Fortress Check’ was also conducted at Nallasopara station.
According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Mumbai Central Division of WR frequently conducts ticket checking drives and also special drives with an element of surprise to nab unauthorized travellers. A special ticket checking drive was conducted by commercial officers, ticket checking & RPF staff in AC local trains as well as suburban stations from 8th to 15th June, 2023. During the check, more than 1560 cases were detected and penalty of more than Rs. 4.90 lakh were recovered from unauthorized commuters.
Shri Thakur further informed that a surprise check was also conducted at Nallasopara station on 15th June, 2023. For this Fortress Check, 21 Ticket Checking staff & 7 RPF personnel were deployed. During the check, 495 cases were detected and an amount of approx. Rs. 1.49 lakh was realized as fine in a single day.
