The construction work for crucial Doubling work of Kottavalasa-Koraput-Kirandul (KK) line under Waltair Division of East Coast Railway is going on full swing. More than 58/% of construction works of this project have been completed, till now.

A patch of 7.3Kms between Shrungavarapukota & Boddavara Stations has been completed and commissioned yesterday for both Goods and Passenger Traffic.

This has been possible due to consistent review of project works by Honâ€™ble Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Ji. General Manager Shri Manoj Sharma advised concerned officials to focus for the speedy completion of various project works for the critical projects. Shri Sharma also advised officials to coordinate with stake holders including State Government officials for early completion of the projects.

Honâ€™ble Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw is giving priority for the Development of Railway infrastructure of the remote Tribal region along with various project works going in the remote Tribal Region of Northern AP, Odisha & Chhattisgarh and also is monitoring the developmental works regularly. Doubling Work in KK line will boost to the economy of the region and will provide a hassle free train operations in the crucial Eastern Ghat region.

Doubling Work in KK Line (445.5 Kms) project was included in 2011-12 and the final Sanction was given in2015-16. Works between Shrungavarapukota & Boddavara Stations, a stretch of 7.3KMs was completed and commissioned yesterday with 1 in 60 Steep gradient in the Eastern Ghats. This is a crucial tough Block Section in the important iron ore route. With this, a total of 259.5 Kms doubling work of KK Line is commissioned so far in phased manner which is 58% of total length of the project. Two more Block Sections in either side of Araku have been targeted to be completed in next two months.

RAILWAY DOUBLING WORK IN KOTTAVALASA-KORAPUT-KIRANDUL (KK) LINE REACHES ANOTHER MILESTONE

â—237 KMs doubling work has been commissioned so far, out of 445 KMs.

â—Chatriput-Maligura (6.95KMs) section inspected by CRS today and authorisation given for train movement.

Doubling work is currently underway in the Kottavalasa-Koraput-Kirandul (KK) Rail Line. 237 kilometers out of a total 445 kilometers of doubling work has been commissioned so far. This important mineral transportation route has been facing delays in train movements due to traffic problems in single-line railway sections. once the doubling works are completed, train traffic will be easier and hassle-free.

Today, the 6.95 kilometer-long Broad Gauge Railway Line Section between Chatriput and Maligura Stations in Koraput District of Odisha, under the Waltair Railway Division of the East Coast Railway, received authorization for the operation of train movement. Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS)/South Eastern (SE) Circle Shri A. M. Chowdhary inspected this Railway Section and gave his consent for train operations. General Manager Shri Manoj Sharma congratulated the team engaged in the construction of this project.

The KK line is located in remote tribal areas of three states and is a point of focus of Hon'ble Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Ji for the development of the region through the railway network. The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned rupees 248.75 crores for the Jagadalpur-Koraput critical doubling project this year, while rupees 70 crores will be spent on doubling works between Chatriput and Jeypore in the 2022-23 FY. Rupees 170 Crores has also been sanctioned for this project in 2023-24 FY.

The proposed rail network will improve connectivity in the region and drastically develop it. The ECoR Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) Shri Amar Prakash Dwivedi, Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair Railway Division Shri Anup Satpathy and senior officials from ECoR HQs and Waltair Division assisted the CRS during his inspection.
