GM/NCR CONDUCTS WINDOW TRAILING INSPECTION OF ALLAHABAD-MIRZAPUR SECTION

Shri Rajiv Chaudhry General Manager/North Central Railway, conducted a window trailing inspection from Allahabad to Mirzapur, o­n Saturday, 17th of August, 2019 by train number 14056 (Brahmaputra Mail). Window-trailing inspection is a specialized inspection in the Indian Railways in which the track and its surrounding installations like signals, OHE, platforms etc are inspected from the rear window of an inspection car attached to a moving train. During the inspection, important parameters like cleanliness and overall condition of stations falling en-route, riding quality of the train-especially o­n points and crossings, improvement in Track Geometry Index (TGI), Condition of level crossing gates en-route etc were observed by the General Manager/North Central Railway.

During inspection Shri Chaudhry said “Bolted type drain covers provided in Allahabad Yards are good in design, it facilitates visibility & cleaning accessibility both, however developmental efforts may be made for use of pressed scrap plastic material for designing similar sort of yard drain covers.”

Shri Rajiv Chaudhry directed the officers to develop widening plans of Niranjan Bridge for two additional lines and portals for this area yard and Over Head Electricals. While passing through Allahabad Chheoki station, he directed to have bifurcation for a public FOB portion o­n New FOB at station. He also desired that Allahabad Chheoki mela passenger enclosure extension plan to connect Platform Number-1 should be executed quickly.

Shri Rajiv Chaudhry considering thehigh TVU (>1 lacs) of level crossing, directed the accompanying officers to review the execution time line for construction of Road Over Bridge at level crossing LC 26E at Meja Road. In order to monitor the real time situation and execution of projects General Manager desired thatdivision should have a running contract for Drone Survey to take care of regular requirement items, like need based Level Crossing area aerial survey , Bridges survey , construction development site survey etc.

He said with the closure of level crossings by construction of Limited Height Subways /Road Under Bridges /Road Over Bridges, we will be missing the vigilant eyes of gatemen, so there will be need to install more Hanging Part Detection System o­n the lines of o­ne functional at Chunar of Allahabad division.

a high level safety review meeting by Railway Board held at NCR HQ. At the outset Chief Safety Officer NCR Sri S K Kashyap welcomed Principal Executive Director Safety Railway board Sri Naresh Chandra Goyal and Sri Rajiv Chaudhry General Manager North Central Railway by presenting them plants. Chief Safety Officer made a presentation o­n safety statistics of NCR viz a viz last year.  All 04 consequential accident cases of NCR were discussed in detail and all aspects like cause , responsibility , recommendation to avoid such cases in future were covered.

CSO presented that as many 07 safety drives were launched in current year by NCR to counsel staff and improve upon systems to achieve target of zero accident. Two important areas ie Fire cases in power cars of LHB trains and Signal passing at danger prevention means were discussed in great detail. GM Sri Chaudhry emphasised that besides existing fire detection cum suppression system and fire balls provided, efforts must also be made to incorporate auto fire suppression systems.

CSO suggested that clean gas based fire extinguisher needs to be installed in coaches.  Innovations done by NCR to reduce SPAD were also presented. Unique efforts like Gross Happiness Index which allows crew to rate running rooms o­n scale of 1 to 10 , o­nline web based Loco inspector inspection and crew rating system , 25 monitoring list of important items etc were presented. 

Physical demo of DUET a droid with remote operation and viewing facility was presented which is developed by Agra division for under gear examination of trains. Further first ever Hot box detector and Hanging part detection system installed by Allahabad division near Chunar station were presented to RB team consisting of PED Sri Goyal , ED SAFETY Sri T P Agrawal , Director Safety Sri Vinay Kumar Nama.  GM said that NCR should process for patent of DUET. 

On this occasion a safety application “Smart Application For Ensuring Train Safety - SAFETY” was also launched. This comprehensive web based application will help in better monitoring of safety related parameters, reporting of unusual etc thus improved safety in train operation.

This app available in google play store allows anyone to send any hazard , unsafe condition with geotagged photograph so as corrective action is taken immediately  . PED Sri Goyal suggested that app should have more video, animation content related to safety to make it more user friendly. Meeting was attended by all PHODs of NCR , CHODs of NCR and   Sr DSOs from division. 

While talking about the support from Railway Board, CSO requested that trains coming from outside with open doors needs to be controlled and he also requested for early finalizationof  three pending enquires with CRS and NIA.
