दकà¥à¤·à¤¿à¤£ पशà¥à¤šà¤¿à¤® रेलवे/ SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY पà¥à¤°à¥‡à¤¸ विजà¥à¤žà¤ªà¥à¤¤à¤¿/ Press Release No. 190 Dt: 12.08.2020 SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY LAUNCHES SPECIAL CLEANLINESS DRIVE A weeklong special cleanliness drive has been launched by South Western Railway from 10th August to 16th August to mark the Independence Day. While there is a visible improvement in cleanliness of trains and stations in last few years, special focus is being given to cleanliness of railway tracks in this drive. Intensive cleaning is being carried out at offices in station, railway colonies, different stalls in platform passenger interface area, toilets, drains, boundary of stations and other areas in railway premises. During cleanliness of tracks special attention is being given to plastic waste collection. As part of the drive, a shramdan was organized on 11.08.2020 at Diesel Loco Shed at Hubballi in which Shri Arvind Malkhede, Divisional Railway Manager; Shri S.K. Jha, Additional Divisional Railway Manager/General; Shri Vishwas Kumar, Additional Divisional Railway Manager/Operations; Shri Bhesh Dutt, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Diesel Loco Shed and others participated. Social Distancing, wearing of mask and other precautions in view of COVID-19 pandemic were observed during the shramdan. Shri A.K. Singh, General Manager, SWR told that cleanliness Drive is in progress in all three Divisions of SWR. Cleanliness has always been always one of priority areas of Railway and the emphasis is more now in view of COVID for effective sanitization of station premises. Shri Arvind Malkhede, Divisional Railway Manager emphasized that cleanliness is most important for physical well-being and a healthy environment and it is essential for everyone to learn about cleanliness hygiene, sanitation as various diseases are caused due to poor hygienic conditions. The drives are being conducted at all the stations, colonies, offices etc. over three Divisions with active involvement of Environment & House Keeping Management, Medical Department, Officers and Staff. With lesser number of passenger trains running on tracks, the opportunity is being utilized to clean tracks with visible results.
