GM/ER ADVISED TO CONTINUE SAFETY DRIVES
•More stress to be given on passengers comfort

Kolkata, December 3, 2020

Shri Suneet Sharma, General Manager, Eastern Railway in a virtual meeting with the Principal Officers and DRMs & CWMs today (3.12.2020), advised all concerned to give further stress on safety aspects keeping in view forthcoming foggy weather in winter season as well as increase in number of trains in different sections over ER. The GM instructed concerned officers for conducting regular safety drives and surprise safety inspection. There should be zero tolerance on safety aspect and all should act to that direction, he added.

Shri Sharma, GM/ER appreciating the endeavour of ER’s officers & staff towards resumption of suburban and non-suburban passenger train services for the convenience of commuters, advised all concerned to keep an eye on passengers comfort with more inputs for passenger amenities like escalators, lifts etc.

It may be noted that despite restriction due to COVID-19, Eastern Railway has already completed installation of five lifts in its jurisdiction of which 2 are at Sahibganj, 1 at Kahalgaon and 2 at Sealdah. Besides, installation of 7 escalators have also been completed of which 5 are in Malda Division and 2 in Sealdah Division.

In the month of November this year, Eastern Railway has recorded a loading of 5.78 million tonnes in comparison to 5.55 million tonnes during previous year.
