In order to cater extra rush of rail passengers and to enhance the passenger carrying capacity of trains, the Railway has decided to augment the train nos.12259/12260 New Delhi- Sealdah- New Delhi Duronto Express and the 12247/12248 Hazrat Nizamuddin- Bandra Terminus- Hazrat Nizamuddin Weekly Express from both directions as per the following programme:-
The 12259/12260 New Delhi- Sealdah- New Delhi Duronto Express train has been provided with one additional A.C. 3 Tier coach with immediate effectupto 02.01.2014 when departing from Sealdah and from 19.12.2013 to 03.01.2014 when departing from New Delhi .
The 12247/12248 Hazrat Nizamuddin- Bandra Terminus- Hazrat Nizamuddin Weekly Express shall be provided with six additional A.C. 3 Tiercoaches from 20/12/2013 when departing from Bandra Terminus and from 21/12/2013 when departing from Hazrat Nizamuddin.

ShriAdhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Honâ€™ble MSR(A) held a review meeting with General Manager/Eastern & South Eastern Railway Shri G.C.Agarwal and other senior officials of Eastern Railway at the SER Headquarters, Garden Reach, Kolkata this morning(9th Dec.2013).
Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Honâ€™ble MSR(A) while addressing the meeting did a detailed review of the ongoing works of Howrah and Sealdah Divisions of Eastern Railway.He laid emphasis on the passenger amenities works like cleanliness of the stations, improvement in the condition of toilets at stations, provision of waiting halls for passengers, adequate lighting in the stations and the circulating areas, security measures for the passengers and the railway staff at stations especially at night etc.He also mentioned about the need for improvement in the approach road to stations.
Honâ€™ble MSR(A) made a special mention of keeping in mind the local conditions & history while designing the stations and Railway Buildings.He mentioned that there should be a historical and architectural perspective during designing of the station buildings which should reflect the heritage, culture and history of the place.
The Honâ€™ble MSR(A) also enquired about the sale of tickets and the number of passengers in various stations of South Eastern Railway.
Dr. Atasi, Honâ€™ble Member, Heritage & Cultural Committee was also present in the meeting. She laid stress on the maintenance and upkeep of the heritage structures in the Railways and the need to have a heritage museum in selected stations.She made special mention of the heritage hall to be constructed at Behrampore station and the Gitanjali Museum at Bolpur. She and Executive Director/Heritage also suggested that the Gitanjali Museum may be brought under the Bolpur Municipality for its maintenance and upkeep.
