SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY Press Release No. 250 Dt. 27.02.2019 SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY HOLDS 19TH ZONAL RAILWAY USERS CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE MEETING The 19th Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee Meeting of SWR is held at Railway Officers Club, Hubballi on 27th February, 2019. Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, GM/SWR presided over the meeting. Shri Nilesh Cabral, Hon’ble Minister of Power, Non - Conventional Energy, Law and Judiciary & Legal Affairs and Hon’ble MLA, Curchorem Constituency; and other members of ZRUCC were present to discuss the various issues relating to South Western Railway. Addressing the meeting, Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, GM/SWR said that Indian Railways is on the journey of transforming the Nation and is the catalyst for the rapidly growing Indian economy. Tremendous thrust is being given by Railway to augment Infrastructure and providing better facilities for our passengers in trains and at stations. Paramount Importance is being accorded to safety and security. SWR bagged Safety shield last year at Railway level. The performance of SWR during the first 10 months of the financial year is promising. The Gross earnings till Jan 2019 is Rs.4860 Crs which is Rs.199 Cr more than the corresponding period over that of last year. He also said that SWR has carried 196.22 million passengers during the financial year 2017-18 which is 1.86 % more than that of the previous year. The trend of passenger traffic this year upto Jan 2019 is 164.06 million passengers.12 new trains have been introduced and 5 trains extended during 2017-18. During this year 9 new trains have been introduced and 8 trains extended. 87 Suvidha Trains and 4016 Special Trains were run. Also, 2125 Extra coaches have been attached to trains upto Jan 2019. Train captains have been introduced in 71 pairs of trains who will be in charge of all the onboard service to ensure a comfortable travel experience for the passengers. Fruits of the line capacity works being undertaken can now can be reaped once our infrastructure augmentation works are completed. He said Railway network with massive investment so as to develop infrastructure commensurate with the needs of our nation of infrastructure works is one of the best in Indian Railways. Approximately 200 km of new assets are being added every year. During the year 2017-18, 204 Km of New lines and 90 Kms of Doubling was commissioned. During the current year 2018-19, 102 Kms of doubling has been commissioned between Chikjajur- Tholahunse, Arsikere – Karadi and Koppal – Ginigera – Munirabad-Hospet & Hospet- Munirabad sections so far. Further, 125 kms of doubling and New line is planned for commissioning by the end of this financial year. South Western Railway achieved a Landmark by eliminating all Unmanned Level crossing gates in SWR. 7 ROBs and 59 RUBs/Subways have been constructed till now. Works of Road Over/ Under Bridges are in progress at many more sites to facilitate smooth flow of Rail and road traffic. Railway has assured of Goa area was taken best probable action. Gupta, Principal Chief Machenical Engineer, Shri S.K. Jha, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Infrastructure/Hubballi and other Officers from South Western Railway along with Shri Babulal Jain, Member of ZRUCC; Shri G.K.
