GM/ER INSPECTED AZIMGANJ – BANDEL SECTION OF ER’S HOWRAH DIVISION TODAY

Kolkata, March 2 2022:

Shri Arun Arora, General Manager, Eastern Railway alongwith Dr. Jaideep Gupta, Additional General Manager, Principal Heads of Departments, Shri Manish Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Howrah and branch officers of Howrah division inspected different stations of Azimganj – Bandel section of Eastern Railway’s Howrah division today (2.3.2022). Shri Arora inaugurated renovated Rail Institute and RPF Barrack, commissioned open Gymnasium, interacted with gangmen, inspected major bridge no., 173, conducted speed trial between Katwa & Nabadwip Dham, inaugurated Swami Vivekananda Meditation Centre & Solar Power Unit. 

At Azimganj, Shri Arora alongwith his team of officers inspected station premises, booking counters, waiting room and other offices in the station. He inaugurated renovated Rail Institute and RPF Barrack, commissioned open Gymnasium and inspected crew booking lobby.

At Khagraghat Road, Shri Arora inspected offices in the station premises, interacted with the passengers and inspected Panel Room. 

At Gangatikuri, Shri Arora with his team officers inaugurated a new gang hut & interacted with the gangmen. He visited deep forest and planted saplings & also inspected level crossing gate no. 23A. In Shiblun – Nabagram – Kankurhati section he inspected major bridge no. 173. 

In Katwa, Shri Arora inspected station premises, different Railway offices within the station premises, interacted with the passengers, inaugurated crew booking lobby and inspected Health Unit. 

He conducted speed trial between Katwa – Nabadwip Dham. 

In Nabadwip Dham he inspected station premises, also inspected traction depot, inaugurated Swami Vivekananda Meditation Centre and Solar Power Unit. Shri Arora inaugurated extended portion of overhead wire tower wagon shed and also inaugurated children’s park and interacted with Railway colony dwellers and children. 

Near Nandaigram station Shri Arora inspected level crossing gate No. 12/A/1. 

In Ambika Kalna, Shri Arora & his team of officers inspected different offices in the station premises, waiting halls & waiting rooms and interacted with the passengers.

Everywhere Shri Arora counselled the Railway staff at different levels for even better performance to ensure safety, security, maintenance of punctuality & cleanliness.

COMMISSIONING OF DOUBLE LINE IN KATWA – AZIMGANJ SECTION (19.72 KM) OF ER’S HOWRAH DIVISION o­n 17.5.2021

Kolkata, May 18, 2021:

In order to enhance sectional capacity in Katwa – Azimganj section under Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division and to reduce the time of travel between these sections, Eastern Railway commissioned two electrified sections having total length of 19.72 kms in connection with double line in Katwa – Azimganj section of Howrah Division.

The commissioned sections are Katwa – Gangatikuri (10.36 km) and Karnasubarna – Chaurigacha (9.36 km). The work was a very challenging in nature. It involves major yard remodelling of Katwa yard and major non-interlocking work simultaneously at four stations – Katwa, Gangatikuri, Karnasubarna & Chaurigacha. All stations were commissioned o­n 17.5.2021. It also involves major traction works also. The work  consists of construction of nine major bridges including construction of o­ne important bridge over river Ajay of span 200 meters. All stations were commissioned based o­n latest technology.

It is pertinent to mention that amidst the 2nd wave of COVID-19 pandemic, Eastern Railway is completing many long pending construction works in the shadow of lesser traffic, thereby turning crisis into opportunities. The work was executed under the prevailing pandemic & lockdown condition, observing all protocols of COVID-19.
