ECoR: THE MOST PROFITABLE ZONE IN INDIAN RAILWAYS


•          FIRST RAILWAY ZONE TO ACHIEVE MORE THAN 150 MT LOADING IN THIS FISCAL

•          ECoR LOADED 22 % MORE THAN LAST YEAR TILL NOVEMBER

•          HIGHEST LOADING OF 19.71 MT IN THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER

During the period from 1st April to 30th November, 2021 East Coast Railway has loaded 150.56MT of freight as against 123.72MT carried in the corresponding period of last fiscal. With this, it has loaded 26.84MT incremental cargo during the current financial year by registering an increase of 22%.

During the period, 100.65 MT of freight carried from Khurda Road Division, 42.15 MT of freight from Waltair Division and 7.76 MT of freight carried from Sambalpur Division.

In the month of November itself, the zone also loaded 19.71 MT of freight as against 18.84 MT carried in the corresponding month last year with an increase of 5% in loading.

The zone has also surpassed the loading target 145.53MT fixed by the Railway Board during the period. This could be possible due to outstanding performance of all the three Divisions of East Coast Railway, i.e. Khurda Road, Waltair and Sambalpur. During the period, ECoR has loaded 84.93MT of Coal, 5.25MT of Raw material for Steel Plants, 14.06 MT of Iron & Steel, 20.37MT of Iron Ore, 0.75MT of Cement, 1.98MT of Food Grains, 3.39MT of Fertilizer, 1.74MT of POL, 2.73MT of freight loaded in Containers and 14.96MT of other cargo.

Major contributors of freight include Talcher, Paradeep, Dhamara, Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram, Nayagarh area, KK Line, Steel Plants, Aluminium plants and from other places of ECoR jurisdiction.

ECoR ACHIEVED A MILE STONE IN BREAKTHROUGH OF TUNNEL IN NEW LINE PROJECT BETWEEN TALCHER-BIMALAGARH.

 

SPECIAL ATTENTION BEING GIVEN FOR EARLY COMPLETION OF o­nGOING PROJECTS: RAILWAY MINISTER SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW.

Ministry of Railways has given priority for early completion of o­ngoing Railway projects in this region. During his last visit to Odisha, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways advised officials to take necessary action and to coordinate with other agencies, so that the long pending sanctioned work will be completed at the earliest.

 

 

In view of the above, the Talcher-Bimlagarh new BG Rail Link Project (149.78Km) sanctioned in the year 2003-04 achieved a major milestone as Engineering Team of ECoR Construction wing conducted final detonation to force the Breakthrough in the 840 M long Tunnel in Baruan Hill between Sunakhani and Samal Stations of the o­ngoing project.

 

 

The project has faced major roadblocks due to slow progress of land Acquisition in Deogarh and Sundergarh Districts. ECoR administration is in constant touch with State and District administration to expedite the land acquisition work in the above two Districts, so that, construction of this project from Bimalagarh side will be carried o­n.

 

 

Railways have completed & commissioned 20 kms of rail line between Talcher Station and Sunakhani Railway Station in o­n-going New Rail line between Talcher and Bimalagarh in December, 2019. Work is going o­n for another 16.30 km stretch between Sunakhani and Parabil in Angul District. Out of 149.78Kms stretch of the total project length, about 79 Kms falls in Angul District, Deogarh has about 32Kms and Sundargarh has about 39 Kms stretch.

 

 

Completion of Railway projects depends o­n various factors like early land acquisition, forest clearance, shifting of infringing utilities, statutory clearances from various authorities, geological and topographical conditions of area, law and order situation in the project site, etc., apart from climatic conditions.

 

Once the project is completed, the Link will reduce the distance between Raurkela and Talcher by about 126Kms. This line will help movement of export quality iron ore through Ports. This project will boost the Economic development of interior underdeveloped districts Angul, Deogarh and Sunargarh of Odisha.
