WR VIGILANCE TEAM COMES DOWN HEAVILY oÂn TOUTS DURING THE oÂnGOING SUMMER VACATION PERIOD A case of fake ticket racquet in Mail Express Trains was detected and the culprit was apprehended by the Vigilance Team Western Railway’s Vigilance team has come down heavily against touts and initiated a major drive during the oÂngoing summer vacation period against the nuisance of touts. According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer, during the vacation season the demand for reserved tickets are very high and the touts try to make good of this opportunity by deceiving gullible passengers. The Vigilance Department of WR came to know about an instance of touting and laid a trap to nab the culprits. A Vigilance team comprising of Shri Manoj Yadav, Shri Sanjay Sharma, Shri Sandeep Golatkar, Ms Neha Mathur and Shri Ravi Sathe conducted a check recently in Sakinaka area of Mumbai suburb wherein a culprit named Alim was nabbed possessing confirmed tickets of long distance trains amounting to around Rs. 1.4 lakh, which he was selling at premium rates. He was apprehended & handed over to IPF - Andheri and a case has been registered under section 143 of Railway Act. oÂn further scrutiny, it came to light that these tickets were duplicate tickets printed oÂn replica of Railway stationary. The modus operandi was that the tatkal tickets were generated from far off remote locations of the country and contents were flashed to agents over Mumbai as it was not possible to get these original tickets delivered in a day. Agents got these tickets printed from their office printers and delivered to passengers at exorbitant rates. It is quite impossible to differentiate whether the tickets are original or fake through naked eyes. The mastermind behind this racket, Afzal is absconding and a special team comprising of Vigilance & RPF personnel have been formed to investigate the matter further. Shri Thakur further informed that the Vigilance Team of WR is always oÂn the forefront to conduct such types of checks in order to curb the menace of touting as well as such unauthorized & irregular activities ******
