WESTERN RAILWAY RESTORES LINEN IN 31 PAIRS OF TRAINS

For the comfort and convenience of passengers, Indian Railways has withdrawn the restriction o­n the supply of linen, blankets and curtains in trains. This restriction was earlier imposed in view of the Pandemic and due to COVID-19 Standard Operating Protocol for the movement of passengers by trains. Implementing the recent decision of withdrawal of this restriction, Western Railway has restored the provision of linen in 31 pairs of trains.

According to a press release issued by Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the details of these trains are:

It is being informed that the supply of linen (Bedsheets, Blankets, etc.) is being done in a phased manner to ensure the proper quality of linen as a sizeable amount of fresh linen is being procured. Railways are working overtime to bring the service back to 100 percent.

N. F. Railway is continuously registering a steady growth in Freight Unloading each month from last few financial years out of which 2021-22 had a remarkable achievement. N.F. Railways has unloaded 1212 freight carrying rakes for the month of April, 2022. During the recently completed financial year from April, 2021 to March, 2022, N. F. Railway carried 13757 rakes of freight trains that it 18% higher than the corresponding previous year.

N. F. Railway has transported goods like FCI rice, sugar, salt, edible oil, food grains, fertilizer, cement, coal, vegetables , auto, tank, container and other items during the month and unloaded them in different goods sheds within its jurisdiction spreading over entire N.E. Region apart from parts of West Bengal and Bihar during this period.

During April, 2022, 647 rakes of freight carrying trains were unloaded in Assam out of which 370 were loaded with essential commodities. 150 rakes in Tripura, 26 rakes in Nagaland, 10 rakes in Manipur, 6 rakes in Arunachal Pradesh and 6 rakes in Mizoram were unloaded during the month. 222 freight rakes in West Bengal and 145 freight rakes in Bihar were also unloaded during the month within the jurisdiction of N. F. Railway.

Improved terminal handling facility and introduction of more goods sheds has made it more convenient for customers and other stake holders to unload and clear inward rake in a time bound manner. To increase freight revenue, 34 new terminals have been opened, 27 terminals have been upgraded and 5 goods sheds have been declared as alternative goods shed to handle additional traffic during last financial year. Continuous monitoring at all level has also resulted in reduction in turnaround time and increased unloading efficiency.
