HUBBALLI DIVISION OF SWR REGISTERS 5% IMPROVEMENT IN FREIGHT LOADING South Western Railway is ensuring supply of essential commodities by movement of Food grains, Coal for Power generation, fertilizers, petroleum products, LPG, cement, Iron ore etc., During the lockdown due to Covid-19 and after relaxation of the same SWR has taken initiative to operate its freight train services throughout the country for smooth movement of said commodities.
During the Month of May 2020, Hubballi Division of SWR has loaded 2.77 Million Tonnes of Freight.This loading consists of 8 rakes of Iron Ore, 9 rakes of Coal ex Mormugao Port, 12 rakes of Steel by M/s Jindal Steel Works, 1 rake each of Fertilizer, Sugar and Cement.The freight loading was offered by the freight customers especially during this Covid-19 crisis is commendable.Loading includes 0.72 MT (178 rakes) of Iron Ore, 0.986 MT (247 rakes) of Coal, 0.066 MT (23 rakes) of Fertilizers, 0.018 MT of Sugar and 0.976 MT of other commodities including Steel.
1 Million Tonnes Loading at Mormugao Port of 247 rakes is 5.1% higher than corresponding loading done during the same period last year. Loading from Mormugao Port of 247 rakes is also higher than the previous highest loading of 243 rakes done in a month during the year 2019-20.Loading of 247 rakes from port was achieved, ensuring the highest steel unloading at Marmugao port of 82 rakes.
Loading of steel from JSWT to Mormugao Port is also at an all time high of 90 rakes against the previous high of 68 rakes. Rail coefficient of Steel dispatches from JSWT siding is 83% against an average rail coefficient of 63-64% last year.
All out efforts have been made by the national transporter to ensure that all commodities are picked up on time as well as to ensure timely supply of commodities during the nationwide lockdown period due to COVID-19 outbreak.Close coordination is being maintained with the State Government to ensure smooth loading and unloading and dispatch of commodities at all stations on SWR.
Railway Officers and staff despite restriction due to Covid-19, have taken all efforts to achieve loading by maintaining social distancing and precautions at loading and unloading points.Hubballi division of SWR could achieve this loading of 2.77 Million Tonnes for the month due to the persistent efforts of Shri Arvind Malkhede, DRM/UBL and team of Branch officers of Hubballi division.Shri A.
