Ministry of Railways has launched ‘One Station one Product’ (OSOP) scheme over Indian Railways with objectives to promote ‘Vocal for Local’ vision of the Government of India, provide a market for local/indigenous products and create additional income opportunities for the marginalised sections of society. Under the scheme, OSOP outlets at railway stations are allotted for showcasing, selling and giving high visibility to indigenous /local products.

The pilot of the scheme was started on 25.03.2022 and as on 01.05.2023, 728 stations are covered with 785 OSOP outlets in 21 States and 3 Union Territories across the country. For the sake of uniformity pan-India, the stalls are designed by National Institute of Design offering convenient storage space as well space for display/ showcasing of products.

In Karnataka, 21 OSOP stalls are operational in various railway stations in Karnataka. ‘One Station one Product’ are specific to that place and include artefacts made by indigenous tribes, handlooms by local weavers, handicrafts etc.

Product categories, under this scheme, include the following:

At Belagavi station, OSOP has been allotted to Meenakshi Self-Help Group SHG, Chachadi village (Saundatti Taluk). KISAN RAIL TO DELHI FLAGGED OFF BY CHIEF MINISTER OF KARNATAKA

Bengaluru Jun 29: Chief Minister Shri BS Yediyurappa flagged off the Kisan Rail from Chintamani to New Delhi. Hon'ble CM flagged off the Kisan Rail from Yelahanka Railway Station today. He stated that farmers will be able to get access to markets located in far away places, and be able to realise better and higher price for their produce. He lauded the initiative of Hon'ble Prime Minister in starting the Kisan Rail Scheme.

Kisan Rail started in August 2020, and has since been beneficial to farmers, farm produce aggregators etc. An upfront subsidy of 50% on the freight charges is provided for Kisan Rail, which helps the farmers to transport their produce to distant markets at a fraction of the cost incurred by road. Five Kisan Rail Trains have carried 1250 Tonne Mangoes from Kolar and Chikaballapur Districts to Delhi, since June 21, 2021.

Kisan Rail runs on time tabled path, thereby ensuring assured transit time to the farmers/farm produce aggregators. Avoiding delay and detention, it ensures that the produce stays fresh upon arrival in distant market. This particular Kisan Rail Train would reach Delhi (a distance of 2300 km) in 38-48 hours from Chintamani, Kolar.

Hon Home Minister Shri Basavaraj Bommai, Hon Revenue Minister; Shri R Ashoka, Hon’ble Cooperation Minister; Shri ST Somashekhar, Hon Horticulture Minister; Shri R Shankar, Hon MLA Yelahanka, Shri SR Vishwanath were present on the occasion. Bengaluru Divisional Railway Manager Shri Ashok Kuymar Verma, Secretary of Agriculture Dept Shri Rajendra Kataria were present along with other senior officials.
