General Manager flags off mountaineering expedition to Mt. Everest – Two Railwaymen to attempt the feat which is the first of its kind o­n Indian Railways

Shri Naresh Lalwani, General Manager, Central Railway, formally flagged off a mountaineering expedition to Mt. Everest. He presented Ice Axe with the flag of Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB), crest of Central Railway Sports Association (CRSA) to Shri Hemant Jadhav and Shri Sandeep Mokashi, two railway men who are attempting the feat. The ice axe will be carried by these two when they summit the Mt. Everest.

Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri Lalwani said “Central Railway Adventure Sports Club members, Shri Hemant Jadhav, Chief Office Superintendent, working in Engineering Branch and Shri Sandeep Mokashi, Office Superintendent, Electrical branch are the first Indian Railwaymen to achieve the feat of scaling Mt.Nun peak situated at 7135 meters above sea level o­n 21.8.2022. Now, with the active patronisation of CRSA, they are embarking upon their expedition to Mt Everest. This expedition aims to spread the word of climate change and global warming. This expedition would be the first of its kind from Railways which is itself a record.” He also said Central Railway Sports Association has 450 active sports persons pursuing 40 types of games.

The Central Railway Adventure Sports Club under Central Railway Sports Association organizes campaigns at many forts in Maharashtra to educate the young minds about the value of trekking and forts. Additionally, they have carried out numerous rescue missions that have saved many lives, and the team engages in a variety of activities such as assisting in disaster zones, planning cycling campaigns, and educating people about the significance of cycling.

The Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) is the apex organization under the Ministry of Railways that functions with the complete mandate of sports promotion at the national and international podiums. It is the Central Organization for all sporting activities that span national and international Games and Championships. It has presence in all the Divisions and Workshops under the jurisdiction of Central Railway. CRSA has a battery of sports persons who have achieved national and international fame and belong to various sporting fields. They have been bestowed with Padma Shri, Arjun Award, Khel Ratna Award, and other awards like the Shiv Chhatrapati Award in their fields. 

Shri Vivek Kumar Gupta, Chief Administrative Officer Central Railway and President, CRSA, Shri Rajesh Arora,  Principal Chief Engineer, Shri Pratik Goswami, Senior Deputy General Manager , Shri Dhruvjyoti Sengupta, Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer (Traffic), Central Railway and General Secretary, Shri Raju Bhadke, Secretary, Central Railway Adventure Sports Club and other members of CRSA, Senior Officers of Central Railway were also present during the event.

PR No. 554 - SCR Bags Three Energy Efficiency Unit Awards From CII



- Kacheguda Railway Station Building Received ‘National Energy Leader Award’ and ‘Excellent Energy Efficient Award’ Consecutively for Third Time

South Central Railway has been awarded with Energy Efficient Unit Awards for three administrative units of the zone by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at the 23rd National Awards for Excellence in Energy Management - 2022. These awards are declared for the best energy management practices during the year 2022 and were presented during the Energy Efficiency summit held at New Delhi.

Shri Sharat Chandrayan, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division received the award for Kacheguda Railway station building and Sr. Divisional Electrical Engineers along with other officials received awards for Hyderabad Bhavan and Lingampalli Railway station buildings.

The details of awards presented are -

Ø Kacheguda Station Building has been awarded with Excellent Energy Efficient Unit Award consecutively for third time and was declared as National Energy Leader of the year, the highest award for Energy Efficiency.

Ø Hyderabad Bhavan (DRM Office, Hyderabad) and Lingampalli Railway Station Building (Secunderabad Division) were awarded as Energy Efficient units in buildings sector.

South Central Railway has been consistently receiving the Energy Conservation Awards at both National level and State level continuously for several years. Several administrative units have been selected for Energy efficient unit awards from CII continuously for years together.

The zone is instrumental in implementing various energy conservation measures like Energy efficient LED lighting, Energy efficient Inverter Type star rated & Precision AC units, HVAC control & Temperature monitoring, Switching off AC units during idling hours, Energy savers and occupancy sensors, Use of solar energy for water heating & electricity generation, Timers for water coolers/rolling examination lights, Optimization of lifts, Bifurcation of fan circuits at platforms to switch off 70% fans during non train period, Use of Energy Efficient Pumps, Use of star labelled electrical equipments, Provision of Electronic fan regulators in place of Conventional fan regulators.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-charge), South Central Railway complimented Principal Chief Electrical Engineer (PCEE), SCR, Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs), Hyderabad and Secunderabad Divisions and their teams who were instrumental in achieving this distinction. He stated that the prestigious awards being received at National level continuously for several years shows the sincerity and commitment of the zone and further acts as a motivation to maintain consistent performance in future.
