Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways is o­n a two-day visit to Kerala

The Minister reviews the master plans for redevelopment of Thiruvananthapuram Central, Varkala Sivagiri and Kozhikode railway stations

Hon’ble Railway Minister conducted inspection of Nemom & Kochuveli Terminals

Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology is o­n a two-day visit to Kerala. The Minister held a review meeting with Railway officials and later inspected Nemom and Kochuveli terminals proposed to be upgraded as part of comprehensive development of Thiruvananthapuram area.

Review Meeting

 The Minister conducted a review meeting with Shri R.N. Singh, General Manager, Southern Railway in the presence of Shri Anil Kumar Lahoti, Chairman, Railway Board & Chief Executive Officer (CEO).  Principal Heads of Departments of Southern Railway and Shri S.M. Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram participated in the meeting.  The Minister urged the officials to fast track the station redevelopment projects of Ernakulam, Ernakulam Town and Kollam Junction and reviewed the proposed blueprint of Station redevelopment projects of Thiruvananthapuram Central, Varkala Sivagiri and Kozhikode stations. The Minister reviewed the status of various o­ngoing doubling and new line projects and sought the concerted efforts of all the officials for expeditious implementation.   The Minister also scrutinized the proposed speed enhancement projects in the state of Kerala that will pave the way for operation of trains like Vande Bharat and other Mail/Express services at higher speeds.  

Inspection of Nemom & Kochuveli Terminals

Followed by the review meeting, the Union Minister inspected Nemom terminal accompanied by Shri Anil Kumar Lahoti, Chairman, Railway Board & Chief Executive Officer (CEO),  Shri R.N. Singh, General Manager, Southern Railway, Principal Heads of Departments of Southern Railway and Shri S.M. Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram.  The Minister exhorted the officials to expedite the project within the time-frame. Later, the Minister visited Kochuveli station and inspected ‘One Station o­ne Product’ outlet and the catering unit at the station.  The Minister met Shri Kadakampally Surendran, Hon’ble MLA of Kazhakuttam Constituency at the station and held discussions.  Thereafter, the Minister interacted with the passengers at Kochuveli station and received their feedback. 

The Minister met mediapersons at Nemom and Kochuveli and briefed them about the proposed project for development of Nemom and Kochuveli and the work-in-progress at the terminals with regard to construction of pitlines, stabling lines, Platform extension works, augmentation of coaching facilities and measures to decongest Thiruvananthapuram Central. 

Earlier in the morning, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw participated in the flagging off ceremony of Thiruvananthapuram Central – Kasaragod Vande Bharat Express by Hon’ble Prime Minister.  Later, the Minister joined other dignitaries at the Hon’ble PM event at Central Stadium, Palayam in Thiruvananthapuram where various rail, Kochi Water Metro and Kerala state govt. projects were unveiled.

Due to special operating reasons, following changes have been made in the pattern of train services as detailed below:

Short Termination of Train Services:

·Train No.16630 Mangaluru Central - Thiruvananthapuram Central Malabar Express leaving Mangaluru Central at 18.15 hrs o­n 23^rd and 24^th April 2023will be terminated at Kochuveli. The train will be partially cancelled between Kochuveli and Thiruvananthapuram Central

·Train No.12623 Dr MGR Chennai Central - Thiruvananthapuram Central Mail leaving Dr MGR Chennai Central at 19.45 o­n 23^rd and 24^th April 2023 will be terminated at Kochuveli. The train will be partially cancelled between Kochuveli and Thiruvananthapuram Central

·Train No.16344 Madurai - Thiruvananthapuram Central Amritha Express leaving Madurai at 16.10 hrs o­n 24^th April 2023 will be terminated at Kochuveli. The train will be partially cancelled between Kochuveli and Thiruvananthapuram Central

·Train No. 17230 Secunderabad – Thiruvananthapuram Central Sabari Express leaving Secunderabad at 12.20 hrs o­n 23^rd April 2023 will be short terminated at Kochuveli. The train will be partially cancelled between Kochuveli and Thiruvananthapuram Central

       
·Train No. 06423 Kollam - Thiruvananthapuram Central Express Special leaving Kollam at 06.50 hrs on 24^th and 25^th April 2023 will be short terminated at Kazhakuttam. The train will be partially cancelled between Kazhakuttam and Thiruvananthapuram Central

·Train No. 06430 Nagercoil - Kochuveli Express Special leaving Nagercoil at 07.50 hrs on 24^th and 25^th April, 2023 will be short terminated at Nemom. The train will be partially cancelled between Nemom and Kochuveli

Change in Originating Station:

·Train No.16629 Thiruvananthapuram Central - Mangaluru Central Express leaving Thiruvananthapuram Central at 18.40 hrs o­n 24^th and 25^th April, 2023 will originate from Kochuveli instead of Thiruvananthapuram Central. The train will leave Kochuveli Jn at 18.45 hrs

·Train No. 12624 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Dr MGR Chennai Central Mail leaving Thiruvananthapuram Central at 15.00 hrs o­n 24^th and 25^th April, 2023 will originate from Kochuveli instead of Thiruvananthapuram Central. The train will leave Kochuveli at 15.05 hrs

·Train No. 06424 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Kollam Unreserved Special leaving Thiruvananthapuram Central at 17.55 hrs o­n 24^th and 25^th April, 2023 will originate from Kazhakuttam instead of Thiruvananthapuram Central. The train will leave Kazhakuttam at 18.19 hrs

·Train No. 06429 Kochuveli – Nagercoil Express Special leaving Kochuveli at 13.40 hrs on 24^th and 25^th April, 2023 will originate from Neyyattinkara instead of Kochuveli. The train will leave Neyyattinkara at 14.30 hrs

Rescheduling of Train Service

·Train No. 12507 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Silchar Express scheduled to leave Thiruvananthapuram Central at 16.55 hrs o­n 25^th April, 2023 will be rescheduled to leave Thiruvananthapuram Central at 18.25 hrs (Late by 1 hour 30 mins)
