Completion of doubling between Gollapalli - Divitipalli & electrification between Gollapalli - Mahabubnagar marks the completion of entire project

South Central Railway has yet added o­ne more feather in its cap by successfully completing and commissioning Secunderabad – Mahabubnagar Doubling & Electrification project. The zone has been giving special attention to completion of the last mile connectivity projects. The completion of this project stands as a major infrastructure development in Telangana state, especially in South Telangana.

            The doubling of this crucial section will enhance the Rail connectivity between Hyderabad City and other major cities located towards Southern region such as Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa, Bengaluru, Tirupati etc., This enables further development of this region with the scope for growth and expansion in the new avenues with increased rail connectivity. Doubling of the last stretch between Gollapalli - Divitipalli for distance of 10 Kms & electrification in the last stretch of 25 Kms between Gollapalli - Mahabubnagar has been completed today i.e., 30^thMarch, 2022 marking the completion of entire project.      

            The Secunderabad – Mahabubnagar Doubling & Electrification project is o­ne of the crucial projects sanctioned for strengthening the rail operations in the state of Telangana. The project is being executed by the Railway PSU, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and was sanctioned for a distance of 85 Kms in 2015-16 at an estimated cost of Rs 774 crores. The section between Secunderabad – Umdanagar for a distance of 28 kms has already been completed as part of MMTS Phase I & II.   The progress of the Doubling & electrification works in the balance section i.e., Umdanagar – Mahabubnagar are as follows -

            Shri Sanjeev Kishore, General Manager, SCR has congratulated SCR officials and staff along with RVNL officials o­n successful completion of Secunderabad - Mahabubnagar Doubling & electrification project. The commitment and dedication shown by each and every employee in completion of this prestigious project in short and stipulated time has been appreciated by the General Manager. o­n this Occasion, he stated that the completion of the project will enhance the capacity of the section and help in improving the connectivity with the southern cities with Hyderabad/Secunderabad region.

The section between Secunderabad – Umdanagar for a distance of 28 kms has already been completed as part of MMTS Phase I & II. Doubling & electrification works in the balance section i.e., Umdanagar – Mahabubnagar have been progressing swiftly with the completion of different sections in the recent years. Now, with the completion of the 10.45kms stretch between Mahabubnagar - Divitipalli, except for the small portion of 15 Kms between Divitipalli - Gollapalli, major portion of the project is completed. The works in the balance section along with electrification are also nearing completion.

All the three stations viz., Divitipalli, Yenugonda and Mahabubnagar in the newly doubled section have been provided with upgraded passenger amenities and advanced Signaling equipment. Electronic interlocking with built-in block interface with operation o­n VDU has been provided at Divitipalli and Mahabubnagar. Double distant signaling has also been provided in the entire section for enhancing the section capacity. Station Master’s Rooms and Signaling Rooms have been aesthetically improved with ergonomic design. ‘A’ class lighting protection enabled at Station buildings.

Shri Sanjeev Kishore, General Manager, SCR has appreciated the officers and staff of Hyderabad Division and RVNL o­n successful completion of doubling of the stretch between Divitipalli - Mahabubnagar. o­n this Occasion, he instructed the officials to expeditiously complete the rest of the project in the current financial year. He opined that, o­nce the entire section is completed, the traffic congestion in the existing single line section between Secunderabad – Dhone will be eased and it will pave the way for more number of both freight and passenger trains from Secunderabad towards South direction.
