MAJOR INITIATIVES OF SER TO DEVELOP ECO-SMART STATIONS

 

Kolkata, 4th September, 2019:

 

South Eastern Railway has decided to develop 21 stations within its jurisdiction as Eco-Smart Stations. Out of these 21 stations, significant progress has been achieved at Ranchi and Digha stations towards developing them as Eco-Smart Stations. Both the stations have already been awarded with ISO 14001:2015 certification for environment management system. Necessary works have also been taken up at the remaining 19 stations viz. Bankura, Bishnupur, Purulia, Mecheda, Santragachi, Bagnan, Panskura, Shalimar, Jhargram, Midnapur, Kharagpur, Adra, Balasore, Hatia, Tatanagar, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Bokaro Steel City and Chakradharpur.

 

Various actions have been initiated to develop the above stations as Eco Friendly:-

 

·To avoid reuse of plastic bottle and minimize waste generation, Bottle Crushing Machines have been installed in various stations and it has been programmed to increase the number.

·Collection and Segregation of Biodegradable and Non-Biodegradable Waste is primary requisite for solid waste management. Waste Management Cell is being constituted for each station.

·Programme has been taken to Install Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at all the Eco Friendly Stations for zero discharge of untreated waste water.

·Conversion of conventional toilets to Eco-friendly or Green Toilets. Measures are being taken to prevent open defecation near railway track and surrounding areas.

·Afforestation and plantation of trees in collaboration with Forest Department of State Governments is being undertaken. Forest Departments of different State Governments have agreed to supply adequate saplings for the stations.

·To control misuse of water and energy, Third Party Audit has been arranged in all the divisions. To conserve water, stress is being laid o­n recycling and reuse of water in the stations.

·Polluter Pays Principle is being adopted to maintain cleanliness at these stations.

CANCELLATION / SHORT TERMINATION / REGULATION / DIVERSION OF TRAINS

CANCELLATION:

1.The extension of running of Train No. 06521/06522 Yesvantpur - Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra – Yesvantpur weekly Superfast Express Special with Special fare for the trips from Yesvantpur o­n 04.07.2019 & 11.07.2019 and from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra o­n 08.07.2019 & 15.07.2019 is cancelled.

2.Train No. 16339 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus – Nagercoil Express commencing journey from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus o­n 05.07.2019 will be cancelled due to heavy rain in Mumbai.

3.Train No. 17318 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus – Hubballi Express commencing journey from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus today i.e. o­n 04.07.2019 is cancelled due to heavy rain in Mumbai.

SHORT TERMINATION:

1.Train No. 12503 Bengaluru Cantonment – Agartala Express commencing journey form Bengaluru cantonment o­n 05.07.2019 will be short terminated at Guwahati. Accordingly, this train will remain partially cancelled between Guwahati – Agartala due to railway related work between Howrah – Kharagpur of South Eastern Railway.

2.Train No. 12504 Agartala – Bengaluru Cantonment Express commencing journey from Agartala o­n 09.07.2019 will originate from Guwahati. Accordingly, this train will remain partially cancelled between Agartala – Guwahati due to railway related work between Howrah – Kharagpur of South Eastern Railway.

REGULATION:

·Train No. 12864 Yesvantpur – Howrah Express commencing journey from Yesvantpur o­n 05.07.2019 will be regulated for 02 hrs. 45 minutes at enroute due to railway related work between Howrah – Kharagpur of South Eastern Railway.

DIVERSION:

·Train No. 22502 New Tinsukia – KSR Bengaluru Express commencing journey from New Tinsukia o­n 05.07.2019 will be diverted to run via Asansol, Adra, Midnapore, Kharagpur due to railway related work between Howrah – Kharagpur of South Eastern Railway.
