SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY Press Release No. 257 Dt. 24.10.2019 SHRI PRASHANT KUMAR MISHRA TAKES OVER AS ADDITIONAL GENERAL MANAGER, SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY Shri Prashant Kumar Mishra has taken over the charge as Additional General Manager (AGM), South Western Railway today i.e.,24th October, 2019 at Hubballi. He is an officer of 1986 batch of Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineer. Shri Prashant Kumar Mishra, initially joined as Assistant Mechanical Engineer (AME) in Patratu Diesel Shed of Dhanbad Division and further served in many important portfolios of Mechanical Department in various Divisions. on getting his promotion in Sr. Administrative Grade, he had joined as Chief Motive Power Engineer (CMPE) at North Frontier Railway, Guwahati. Later he took over as Divisional Railway Manager (DRM)/Asansol in Eastern Railway for a period of 2 years and 3 months. He had also served as DRM at Malda Division and at Alipurdwar Division, as an additional Charge for a brief period. Prior to his joining as Additional General Manager/SWR, Hubballi, he was serving as Chief Workshops Engineer (CWE) at Eastern Railway, Kolkata. While serving as DRM in three Divisions, for upholding green environment, he was instrumental in planting 8 lakhs trees, creating 100 mini forests, 95 water bodies and many Rain Water Harvesting plants to his credit. This was an unparallel & remarkable contribution from a DRM. He had immensely contributed for restoration & rejuvenation of around 41, age old Railway Station buildings, Institutes & Bungalows in Eastern Railway and brought glory to the heritage of century old buildings. He had introduced 12 Premium airconditioned paid lounges in various stations in Asansol & Malda Division, as an improved amenity to passengers. During his tenure as DRM/Asansol Division, in Originating Earnings, the Division registered a phenomenal growth of 15.5 % increase and loaded 44.55 Million Tonnes in freight loading, which was the highest ever performance, since inception of the Division. Under his leadership, Asansol division contribution rose upto 67% of total freight loading of E.Rly and the division had also registered incremental growth in freight traffic to the extent of 8.5 million tonnes. His constant efforts had also resulted in improved Wagon Turn Around in Asansol Division, which stood at 1.35 days from the earlier result of 1.5 days, thus became the new bench mark in improving the mobility.
