Kolkata, March 27, 2023 Eastern Railway making all possible endeavours to augment safety through modernization of signalling system as Shri Arun Arora, General Manager, Eastern Railway has sensitized all concerned regarding zero tolerance in safety. As a step forward in the direction of augmenting safety with state-of-the-art signalling system, the Gati Shakti Unit / Howrah has commissioned the electronic interlocking (EI) system at Belanagar Railway station of Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division. This is an international standard Siemens Make Electronic Interlocking system incepted at Belanagar on 26th March 2023. The work of commissioning new Electronic Interlocking system of Belanagar station has been completed with zero safety lapses & failures while executing such complicated task. For timely completion of related Non-Interlocking work, simulation with Site Acceptance Test (SAT) performed with the running system for successful trial before commissioning. It took more than a week’s time to stabilize the system by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) which is essential for successful commissioning of Electronic Interlocking system. This project is in fact the first project commissioned by Gati Shakti Unit of Howrah which has been sanctioned by the General Manager/Eastern Railway, last year. 2
