दक्षिण पश्चिम रेलवे / SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY GM/SWR FELICITATES STAFF FOR EXEMPLARY SAFETY CONSCIOUSNESS General Manager, South Western Railway, Shri Sanjeev Kishore, felicitated the employees for their safety consciousness and presence of mind which averted accidents. 1. On December 16, 2022, Shri. Deepak Kumar, Assistant Loco Pilot, Sakleshpur, & Shri. Dipak Kumar, Loco Pilot, Sakleshpur, were approaching LC Gate on Train No. 07378 (Mangaluru-Vijayapura daily Express Special). The crew stopped the train by apply emergency brakes the open LC gate. 2. On December 3, 2023, Shri Vijay Kumar Singh, Key Man, Ranibennur observed a combination weld joint failure between the Chalgeri - Ranibennur block section and protected the track while performing early morning track patrolling. Key Man of Ranibennur's alertness and prompt action prevent unusual incidents. 3. On December 12, 2022, Shri. A. Asai Thambi, a track maintainer, observed a crack in the stock rail during maintenance work. He then protected the track as directed. Because of his prompt action, he has been nominated for Safety Man of the Month. 4. On December 8, 2022, Shri. Raghunath Y, a pointsman at Tadval station, saw that the centre buffer coupling handle rod of a wagon on moving train had broken and was hanging. The train was immediately stopped, and the appropriate prompt action was taken. The Points-man was on the alert and prevented a major accident. 5. On 12.12.2022, 13.12.2022, and 17.12.2022, Shri. Santosh Kumar, Assistant (Carriage and Wagon) Yesvantpur, while working in the pit lines, observed three occasions of primary spring breakages that are difficult to detect with the naked eye. The commitment and craftsmanship in identifying spring breakages at vulnerable locations of coaches has undoubtedly avoided possible enroute detention and hazards. His dedication to duty is greatly admired. 6. On December 13, 2022, Shri. Thakur Baljit Singh, Technician Hosapete, and Shri. Santosh Kumar, Technician Hosapete, while performing a rolling-in examination, noticed that one wagon yoke was broken and unsafe to run. The wagon was identified sick and was detached for further sick attention in Hosapete. Thus, the alertness and prompt action averted a possible mid-section safety hazard. 7. On November 31, 2022, Shri. Ravi Ranjan Singh, Senior Goods Train Manager Sakleshpur, while checking the goods train, noticed a gas leakage/smell coming from a wagon of petrol. The message was conveyed to Station Master, Subrahmanya Road & Control to attend to the leakage and to call a fire tender to avoid any mishaps. The prompt action of Senior Goods Train Manager Saklepur has prevented a potential fire hazard. Energy Conservation Week (14th to 21st December, 2022) Observed on SCR Cultivate energy saving habits to reduce the consumption of power for a better future said Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway. He was the chief guest on the occasion of Energy Conservation Webinar held at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad today i.e., 21st December, 2022 as part of the Energy Conservation Week being celebrated on SCR. Shri Amit Goel, Additional General Manager, Shri P.D. Mishra, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Shri John Prasad, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, SCR, all Divisional Railway Managers and other senior officials were also present. Shri Arun Kumar Jain stated that, South Central Railway is implementing several Energy Conservation measures on non-traction side, which includes promotion of solar energy, 100% LED lighting at Railway Stations, Service Buildings & Railway quarters, Energy efficient pumps, Inverter type AC units, BLDC fans, Occupancy sensors, Automation of pumps etc. With these measures, the non-traction energy consumption has been contained, despite substantial increase in connected load over the years. He also stated that good work done by SCR in energy conservation earned the distinction and Electrical department won 6 National Energy Conservation Awards & 6 State Energy Conservation Awards during 2022. He also stated that efforts will continue towards implementing energy efficiency measures in Electrical & Thermal utilities, water conservation measures and adopting go green concept to meet NET Zero Carbon Emission, Mission of IR by 2030. Shri P.D. Mishra, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, SCR welcomed the webinar and stated that, National Energy Conservation Week is celebrated every year from 14th to 21st December as per the guidelines of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Ministry of Power, to create awareness and promote energy conservation. In South Central Railway also, we conduct various awareness and educational programmes at Headquarters, Divisions and Workshops during this week for giving the message of Energy Efficiency & conservation. Shri Arun Kumar Jain inaugurated the Energy Conservation Equipment exhibition and stalls at the Rail Nilayam premises. Several private firms exhibited different types of Electrical & Solar appliances which help in energy conservation.
