PR No. 982 Accord Priority to Ensure Punctuality in Train Operations - Shri Arun Kumar Jain, GM/SCR

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway conducted a detailed review meeting o­n safety, punctuality and freight loading operations of the zone today i.e., 20thMarch, 2023 at Rail Nilayam Secunderabad along with Principal Heads of the Departments. Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded joined the review meeting through video conference.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain held a detailed review o­n punctuality performance of mail and express trains across the zone. He examined the division wise punctuality statistics and instructed the officials to identify the root causes for issues affecting punctuality and take remedial steps to improve the performance. He also advised the officials to make action plans for optimal utilization of the man power during traffic blocks which will help to avoid detentions. He further instructed the Divisional Railway Managers to identify and monitor the trains which have lost punctuality and take appropriate measures for improving their operations.

On safety aspect, the General Manager advised the officials to analyze compliance of guidelines and procedures at work-sites at regular intervals to keep track o­n the effectiveness of safety drives being conducted throughout the zone. He also advised the officials to strictly monitor implementation of safety measures at goods sheds and sidings. He also reviewed the status of refresher courses and regular training being imparted to safety staff.

Further, the General Manager conducted a detailed review o­n freight loading performance of the zone. He appreciated the divisions for growth in freight loading and advised the officials to put in extra efforts to ensure seamless running of freight trains so as to meet the requirements of the freight customers and also ensure maximum freight loading for the current financial year.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway presented “Man of the Month” safety awards to 18employees who have shown alertness and dedication to the duty over the zone during a virtual safety review meeting held today i.e., 13th, March, 2023 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Shri P. Uday Kumar Reddy, Additional General Manager, SCR also participated in the meeting along with all the Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRMs) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded joined the review meeting through video conference.   

 Shri Arun Kumar Jain virtually presented the “Man of the month” safety awards to 18 employees of the zone (Secunderabad Division- 03, Vijayawada Division-05, Guntakal Division-05, Nanded Division-04 and Guntur-01) for showing alertness and taking timely action to prevent unsafe conditions.The awardees physically received the awards at the hands of Divisional Railway Managers at their respective Divisions. The employees belonged to various categories like loco pilots, Station Masters, Technicians and Gate Man etc. The General Manager congratulated the awardees and appreciated them for the commitment in performing their duties with utmost dedication. He also stated that these awards will motivate other employees in following the safety procedures, which will help the railways for safe operation of trains.

 Later, Shri Arun Kumar Jain conducted a detailed review of the safety of train operations over the zone. He instructed the officials to continue the safety drives over the zone and intensify the inspections to ensure the safety of the train operations. He also instructed everyone to follow the safety procedures strictly as per the Railway board guidelines issued from time to time.

             He discussed o­n the punctuality statistics of the trains and advised the officials to improve the punctuality and make action plans for optimal utilization of the man power during traffic blocks. He also instructed the Divisional Railway Managers to monitor the trains which are adversely impacted with regard to punctuality and take appropriate measures for improving their operations.
