The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) N.F circle has granted authorization for the carriage of passenger traffic after inspecting the newly converted Broad Gauge line from Balipara to Bhalukpong of Rangiya division (34.09 km) on 8th May, 2015 . The CRS has authorised a maximum permissible speed of 75 km per hours for this section. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Railway Safety N.F circle also granted authorization for Sripani to Murkongselek of Rangiya division ( 72.5 km ) after conducting inspection on 6thand 7th May, 2015. Maximum permissible speed of 75 km per hours has been permitted. Earlier, the authorization to run passenger & goods trains has already been given for North Lakhimpur-Sripani section in March,2015. Both the gauge conversion projects were sanctioned in 2007-08 and works started in 2009-10. The passenger train services are likely to be started in both the sections shortly after which Arunachal Pradesh will have one more railway connection, while the full section from North Lakhimpur to Murkongselek will be thrown open for passenger traffic fulfilling the a long pending demand of people of North Bank.
