6thINTER RAILWAY PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION CUM EXHIBITION CONCLUDES AT S E RAILWAY HEADQUARTERS

Kolkata, 9thJanuary, 2015:

A 2-Day 6th Inter Railway Photography Competition-cum-Exhibition organized by the Chief Engineer’s Recreation Club, South Eastern Railway, Garden Reach concluded at BNR Auditorium, S E Railway, Garden Reach today (09/01/2015). Shri R.K.Agrawal, Principal Chief Engineer, S.E.Railway inaugurated the exhibition yesterday and encouraged the participants for their good quality of photographs showcased in the exhibition. Photographs of the employees of South Eastern Railway, Eastern Railway and Metro Railway have been displayed in the exhibition.

A total of 120 ( 60 nos. in the Open section & 60 nos. in the Travel section) photographs o­n various subjects titled “Balloon Wallah”, “Close up”, “End of the Day”, “Sela Lake”, “Joy Maa Ganga”, “Hooghly Bridge” etc.have been displayed. Out of 120 photographs, 6 were selected by the judges.

Shri Partha Pratim Saha of S.E.Railway got the 1st Prize for his photograph titled “Balloon Wallah” in Open Section while Smt.Bijalpita Roy and Shri Abhijit Ghosh of S.E.Railway have been adjudged 2nd and 3rd for their photographs titled “Close Up” and “End of the Day” respectively. Shri Asim Bhattacharya of S.E.Railway got the 1st Prize for his photograph titled “Sela Lake”in Travel section while Shri Jayanta Mitra and Shri Sourendra Nath Bandopadhyay of S.E.Railway have been adjudged 2nd and 3rdfor their photographs titled “Joy Maa Ganga” and “Hooghly Bridge” respectively. Dr. Kamaleswar Mukherjee, eminent Film Director, gave away the prizes to the winners in presence of other distinguished guests.

NEPALESE DELEGATION VISITS S E RAILWAY HEADQUARTERS

Kolkata, 16th July, 2014 :

A high level Nepalese Delegation led by Mr. Narayan Gopal Malego, Secretary for Commerce and Supplies, Govt. of Nepal visited South Eastern Railway Headquarters, Garden Reach today(16.07.2014) and met the General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Shri Radhey Shyam. Mr.Chandra Kumar Ghimire, Consul General, Mr.Surendra Thapa, Dy.Consul General and some other delegates of Nepal Govt. were in the delegation.

The delegation had an interactive meeting with the General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Shri Radhey Shyam and other principal Heads of Departments. Shri Radhey Shyam, GM/SER highlighted the activities of SER for better appreciation and understanding o­n the working of SERailway.General Manager also gave an overall view of loading activities of South Eastern Railway and spoke about the importance of carrying out trade and business with neighbouring countries like Nepal. Mr.Narayan Gopal Malego, Secretary for Commerce & Supplies, Govt. of Nepal appreciated the development made by South Eastern Railway and sought co-operation from South Eastern Railway for movement of traffic between two countries via Raxaul and Birgunj.

The Nepalese delegation requested the South Eastern Railway for assured and timely supply of rakes bound for Nepal against indents at various loading points in SER.Shri Radhey Shyam assured the delegation that there is no problem or shortage of wagons but at times there are restrictions imposed at Raxaul & Birganj due to constraints which affects the movement of cargo towards Nepal.However, SER has been supplying rakes for Nepal loading and will continue to do so.The main commodities loaded and moved by SER towards Nepal are steel, slag, fertilizer, imported coal, cement and containers.These commodities are loaded from Haldia, Tatanagar, Bokaro, Jharsuguda and Kalunga.

The meeting was attended by Shri G. K. Mohanty, Chief Operations Manager, Shri S.K.Das, Chief Commercial Manager, Shri P.Dansana, Chief Freight Transportation Manager and Shri B.K.Jain, Secretary to General Manager, South Eastern Railway.
