General Manager North Central and Northern Railway Sri Rajiv Chaudhry commended efforts of Railway Corona Warriors o­n the occasion of 65th Railway Week

On this day i.e. 16th April 1853, first passenger train operated in India between Mumbai- Thane . To mark this historic day ,every year 10th to 16th April is celebrated as Railway week across Indian Railways when functions are organized and meritorious staff & officers are awarded at National, Zonal and divisional Level. This is first time in 167 years of history when entire passenger services are suspended. Formal Railway week functions which otherwise are celebrated with great enthusiasm are also postponed.Despite passenger services being completely standstill but Railwaymen are keeping the wheel moving of National Transporter and also fighting with this pandemic o­n many fronts.Since no formal function is being held o­n 65 Railway week therefore General Manager NCR and NR Sri Rajiv Chaudhry conveyed best wishes and gratitude to all Railway corona Warriors of North Central Railwaythrough message and a small video clip sent o­n their mobiles . Copy of the message and video clip are being mailed with this press release.In his message ,Sri Rajiv Chaudhry mentioned some the following importantcontributions of Railwaymen in maintaining essential services and containing spread of COVID-19 .

With bare essential staff during lockdown, NCR ensured regular goods and parcel operations. NCR registered highest average speed increase of freight trains among all Zonal Railways and also maintaining punctuality performance of more than 80%for time tabled parcel trains .

With use of technology ,innovation and most importantly the determination and hard work of Railway employees all assetsmaintained in perfect conditionto ensure failure free train operation during o­ngoing lock down period.

To mitigate any chances of inadequate supply of essential goods, NCR is operating 40parcel stations and running single Coach parcel train to ensure transportation of each single packet of parcel booked .

To overcome any short supply of face covers and sanitizer at workplaces, inhouse production of more than 120000 reusable face covers and 7300 liters sanitizer have been done till 15.04.20.

More than 100000downloads of Arogyasetu app by Railway employeesof NCR andtheir family members.

Besides creating two 100bedded isolation facilities at Central Hospital Prayagraj and DivisionalHospital Jhansi ,130coaches have also been modified for use as isolation ward.

Approximately Rs7.3crores contributed in PM CARES and creation of COVID-19 voluntary contribution funds at HQ and in divisions to help needy during lockdown. With collective efforts from RPF, Scouts & Guide, different departments etc .more than 52000 meals served till 15.04.20and will be scaled up further.

NCR has also started preparing Coverall, an important part of PPE for medical personnel. Coverall made at Gwalior and Kanpur following approved methodology have beenfound suitable by Railway doctors, NCR will be making 2000 units in first phase which will be further scaled up.

Central Railway will operate Mega Block on Main line and Harbour line for carrying out essential maintenance work o­n 22.03.2020.

Vidyavihar-Thane Dn fast line from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm

Dn fast/semi fast services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus from 9.49 am to 2.48 pm will be diverted o­n Dn slow line at Matunga halting at all stations from Sion to Mumbra stations and arrive destination 20 minutes behind schedule. Fast trains beyond Mumbra will be re-diverted o­n Dn fast line at Diva and will halt as per their respective schedule.

All Up fast line services leaving Thane from 10.46 am to 2.58 pm will halt at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar and Kurla stations in addition to their schedule halts and will arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.

All slow line services leaving/arriving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus between 11.00 am and 5.00 pm will arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.





Dn Harbour line services to Vashi / Belapur /Panvel leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai/Vadala Road from 11.34 am to 4.47 pm and Dn Harbour line services to Bandra/Goregaon leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus from 9.56 am to 4.43 pm will remain suspended. 

Up Harbour line services for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai leaving Panvel/Belapur/Vashi from 9.53 am to 3.20 pm and Up Harbour line services leaving Bandra/Goregaon from 10.45 am to 4.58 pm will remain suspended.

However, Special services will run between Panvel and Kurla (Platform No.8) during the block period.

Harbour line passengers are permitted to travel via Main Line and Western Railway from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm during block period.


Due to these blocks, suburban trains are likely to be more crowded than usual. Passengers are requested not to take any risks while travelling. They are also requested to avoid travelling o­n foot board, roof top of locals and not to board extremely over crowded trains. These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety. Passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused.
