WR CONDUCTS SPECIAL SURPRISE TICKET CHECKING DRIVE OVER MUMBAI SUBURBAN LOCAL TRAINS & STATIONS

Almost Rs.6.40 lakh realized in fines from unauthorized travelling through this surprise checking drive

In order to ensure hassle-free, comfortable travel & better services to all bonafide passengers and to deter ticketless travelling, special ticket checking drives are carried out at frequent intervals over Western Railway, in addition to the regular intensive ticket checking drives, especially in the Mumbai suburban section. In this very direction, a special ticket checking drive was conducted in local trains, including AC local trains. Similarly, a surprise check known as ‘Fortress Check’ was also conducted at Nallasopara station.

According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Mumbai Central Division of WR frequently conducts ticket checking drives and also special drives with an element of surprise to nab unauthorized travellers. A special ticket checking drive was conducted by commercial officers, ticket checking & RPF staff in AC local trains as well as suburban stations from 8th to 15th June, 2023. During the check, more than 1560 cases were detected and penalty of more than Rs. 4.90 lakh were recovered from unauthorized commuters.

Shri Thakur further informed that a surprise check was also conducted at Nallasopara station o­n 15th June, 2023. For this Fortress Check, 21 Ticket Checking staff & 7 RPF personnel were deployed. During the check, 495 cases were detected and an amount of approx. Rs. 1.49 lakh was realized as fine in a single day.

Western Railway appeals all esteemed commuters to travel with a proper and valid ticket, which can be procured through the ticket booking counters or ATVM machines or can be purchased o­nline through UTS App.

Dr L Murugan, Hon’ble Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying inaugurated the stoppage at Kodaikanal Road for Train No. 16127/16128 Chennai Egmore - Guruvayur- Chennai Egmore Express and Train No. 17615/17616 Kachguda – Madurai – Kacheguda Weekly Express by flagging off Train No. 16128 Guruvayur- Chennai Egmore Express o­n the 15th June, 2023 today at Kodaikanal Road. Shri P. Velusamy, Hon’ble Member of Parliament and Shri S. P. Selvaraj, Chairman, Ammayanaickanur Town Panchayath attended the function. Shri P. Ananth, Divisional Railway Manager, Madurai Division, other invitees, Railway Officials and passengers also participated.


Railway Board has approved the stoppage of Train No. 16127/16128 Chennai Egmore - Guruvayur – Chennai Egmore Express & Train No. 17615/17616 Kacheguda - Madurai – Kacheguda Express o­n and from 16th June, 2023.
