S E RAILWAY STARTS SPECIAL CLEANLINESS DRIVE OVER SER SYSTEM FROM â€śGANDHI JAYANTIâ€ť TO MAKE â€śSWACHH BHARAT MISSIONâ€ť A SUCCESS â€“ GM TAKES PART IN DRIVE AT SANTRAGACHI - HONâ€™BLE CHIEF MINISTER, JHARKHAND JOINS CLEANLINESS DRIVE AT RANCHI STATION
Kolkata, 2nd October, 2014:
S E Railway has launched a Special Cleanliness Drive at its Headquarters, Garden Reach and four divisions viz Kharagpur, Adra, Ranchi & Chakradharpuron â€śGandhi Jayantiâ€ť diwas as a part of â€śSwachh Bharat Missionâ€ť, a massive mass movement called by Honâ€™ble Prime Minister of India. The main objective of the drive is to keep stations, railway premises, trains, tracks, workshops etc clean and to spread awareness amongst the railway users and travelling public. With a view to spread awareness amongst the rail users and travelling public, S E Railway has printed publicity materials like colourful posters, banners, leaflets, stickers, placards which were displayed and pasted in different stations, railway premises, workshops, booking counters, circulating areas of different stations all over the S E Railway system. Apart from releasing Display Advertisement in different print media over SERâ€™s jurisdiction, a 30-second TV Spot was also telecast by different television channels to promote awareness about cleanliness amongst the rail users.
â€śSWACHH SHAPATHâ€ť ADMINISTERED BY GENERAL MANAGER
Sri Radhey Shyam, General Manager, South Eastern Railway administered the â€śSwachh Sapathâ€ť, a cleanlinesspledge amongst all the staff and officers present at the South Eastern Railway Headquarters, Garden Reach at 09:45 hours this morning. A huge number of staff working in the SER Headquarters turned up to take the cleanliness pledge despite 2nd October being a National Holiday as well as Maha Ashtami Day of the ongoing Durga Puja. Thereafter, General Manager, Sri Radhey Shyam along with a large gathering of railway men took part in â€śShramdaanâ€ť in the office premises and the SER colony at Garden Reach, Kolkata. A mass gathering of Bharat Scouts & Guides, St. John Ambulance Brigade, Civil Defence and members of S E Railway Womenâ€™s Welfare Organisation wearing â€śSwachh Bharatâ€ť caps and displaying
colourful placards, banners and posters on cleanliness also joined the â€śShramdaanâ€ť.
â€śSHRAMDAANâ€ť AT SANTRAGACHI PLATFORMS
Thereafter, General Manager, Sri Radhey Shyam visited the Santragachi Station and paid floral tribute to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation to mark the â€śGandhi Jayantiâ€ť. Later, General Manager took part in
â€śShramdaanâ€ť to keep clean the railway premises like station platforms, tracks, railway colonies etc.along with Sri Gautam Banerjee, Divisional Railway Manager, Kharagpur, Sri G K Mohanty, Chief Operations Manager, Principal Heads of various departments and a large gathering of Divisional railwaymen.
RAILWAY COLONY, ELECTRIC LOCO SHED, CARRIAGE & WAGON MAINTENANCE DEPOT
After inspecting the platforms, the General Manager also went around the Railway Colony, Booking Offices, Carriage & Wagon Maintenance Depot, Electric Loco Shed and joined in a mass â€śShramdaanâ€ť. A large gathering of railwaymen including Bharat Scouts & Guides, St. John Ambulance & Civil Defence took part.
â€śSWACHH PAIDAL YATRAâ€ť â€“ â€śClean Walkâ€ť
General Manager, S E Railway along with all the senior officers, staff and Scouts & Guides undertook a long walk from the station to the Carriage & Wagon Depot and covered the whole railway colony of Santragachi to spread awareness about cleanliness.
After the walk, a Tree Plantation Programme was organized where saplings were planted to make the area around the Loco Shed more green.
Drawing Competition was organized at Santragachi and also at different places in S E Railwayâ€™s jurisdiction in which school children and the wards of railway employees participated. The children drew pictures on different aspects of cleanliness expressing their ideas and emotions to make the country clean.
SKIT (STREET PLAY)
A Skit was staged at Santragachi as well as Shalimar Station by the Bharat Scouts & Guides to create awareness amongst the passengers about maintenance of cleanliness and observance of railway safety rules.
To make â€śSwachh Bharat Missionâ€ť a grand success, Divisional Railway Managers of Kharagpur, Adra, Ranchi and Chakradharpur of S E Railway have also joined â€śShramdaanâ€ť programme in their respective divisions.
CHIEF MINISTER, JHARKHAND JOINS SER CLEANLINESS DRIVE AT RANCHI
Sri Hemant Soren, Honâ€™ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand and Sri Ram Tahal Chowdhury, Honâ€™ble MP took part in â€śShramdaanâ€ť alongwith Divisional Railway Manager Sri Deepak Kashyap in presence of large section of railwaymen who also took part in â€śShramdaanâ€ť organized by the Ranchi
Division of S E Railway. The Chief Minister of Jharkhand arrived at the station and joined the cleanliness drive of the railways by doing â€śShramdaanâ€ť and speaking to the media on the need for cleanliness.
CHAKRADHARPUR & ADRA DIVISIONS DRIVE ALSO A SUCCESS
A mass â€śShramdaanâ€ť was organized by the Chakradharpur Division of S E Railway in different stations, railway premises etc. Sri B B Mahato, Honâ€™ble MP joined the mass â€śShramdaanâ€ť at Tatanagar, Sri Laxman Gilua, Honâ€™ble MP joined at Chakradharpur while Sri Jual Oram, Honâ€™ble MP was present at Rourkela station. Additional General Manager, S E Railway Sri Prabhat Sahai was present at Rourkela while Divisional Railway Manager, Chakradharpur Sri Rajiv Agrawal was at Tatanagar.
Adra Division has also organized the mass â€śShramdaanâ€ť at different stations in its jurisdiction where a large number of railway men and members from various Consultative Committees and Associations along with the students of railway schools participated. Dr. Mriganka Mahato, Honâ€™ble MP joined the â€śShramdaanâ€ť at Purulia station while Sri Rabindra Kumar Pandey, Honâ€™ble MP was present Khanoodih station who also took part in â€śShramdaanâ€ť. Shri Aravind Mittal, Divisional Railway Manager, Adra led the special cleanliness campaign in Adra Division.
SER TO RUN 348 PUJA SPECIALS, TO AUGMENT 30 MAIL/ EXPRESS TRAINS & TO RUN 7 SUBURBAN EMU SPECIALS DURING FESTIVE SEASONâ€”ALMOST 1.45 LAKH ADDITIONAL RESERVED BERTHS GENERATED
Kolkata, 25th Sept. 2014:
With a view to clear extra rush of passengers during the ensuing festive season, South Eastern Railway has made elaborate arrangements to run 348 long distance special trains including premium special trains from Howrah, Santragachi, Kharagpur, Ranchi and Hatia to different destinations viz. Yesvantpur (Bangalore), Chennai, Mumbai, Ernakulam (Kerala), Mysore, Puri, Secunderabad, Anand Vihar(Delhi), Dumka and New Jalpaiguri. This apart, 30 Mail/Express trains will be augmented by attaching one extra coach in each of these trains from September to November/December 2014. Moreover, 7 night EMU Specials will also be run daily from 29.09.2014 to 04.10.2014 during Durga Puja.
As a result of running of these special trains and augmentation of existing Mail/Express trains, 1,44,712 number of additional reserved berths will be generated for the benefit of the travelling public.

Howrah-Mumbai Duranto, Howrah-Pune Duranto, Santragachi-Chennai AC Express will be augmented by attaching one AC -2 tier coach each & Howrah-Vasco Amravati Express and Ranchi-New Delhi Garib Rath will be augmented by one AC â€“ 3 tier coach each. Howrah-Yesvantpur Express, Howrah-Puducherry Express, Howrah-Mysore Express, Hatia-Yesvantpur Express, Hatia-Pune Express will be provided with one extra Sleeper Class coach each. Howrah-Puri Dhauli Express, Howrah-Digha Tamralipta Express and Howrah-Digha Kandari Express will also be augmented by attaching one non AC chair car coach each. Similarly Tata-Bilaspur and Jharsuguda-Gondia Passenger trains will be provided with one extra unreserved coach each. The above trains will be augmented during the period from 01.09. 14 to 02
7 NOS. EXTRA SUBURBAN EMU SPECIALS DAILY DURING DURGA PUJA (LATE NIGHT SERVICE)
SER will run 07 extra suburban EMU specials daily during night from 29.09.2014 to 04.10.2014 for the Durga Puja rush. These night EMU Specials will run between Mecheda-Howrah, Howrah-Kharagpur, Kharagpur-Mecheda, Panskura-Howrah, Howrah-Panskura, Amta-Howrah and Howrah-Amta.
Besides, 76 Mail/Express Weekly Special Trains originating from various important places of the country will be passing through South Eastern Railwayâ€™s jurisdiction during the festive season.
