Shri P.K. Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway, declared open the 28th All India Railway Cricket Championship for Women 2014-15 here at Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad today i.e. 9thFebruary, 2015. South Central Railway Sports Association (SCRSA) is organising the championship matches scheduled to be held from 9th to 15thFebruary, 2015. Total of eight teams of various Zones are participating in the championship. The participants include South Central Railway, Eastern Railway, North Frontier Railway, Western Railway, Northern Railway, Southern Railway, Central Railway and North Central Railway.
Shri P.K. Srivastava called upon the participants to show true sportsmanship in the matches and bring laurels to the Cricket on Indian Railways. He said that it is proud to have two Padmashri Awardees and many legendary women cricketers on Indian Railways.
On the opening day match, South Central Railway under the captaincy of Mithali Raj won over Eastern Railway by 5 wickets. Toss was won by SCR and elected to bowl, Eastern Railway scored 155 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs. In return SCR scored 156 in 42.5 overs, T. Shani scored 44 runs, S.Himabindu 30, Shalini with 29 stood as best performers.
In another match held at Athletic grounds Western Railway won over North Frontier Railway. Toss was won by North Frontier Railway and elected to bat. NF Railway scored 96 runs for 10 wickets in 46.5 overs. In return Western Railway scored 100 runs for 2 wickets in 24.5 overs.Shri S.N.Singh, Principle Chief Engineer, Shri Kabeer Ahmad. S, Chief Mechanical Engineer, Shri Gajanan Mallya, President SCRSA and Sr. Deputy General Manager, SCRSA and Shri K. Srikanth Reddy, Secretary/Cricket/SCRSA and Secretary to GM were also present.

SER LAUNCHES ELABORATE CLEANLINESS DRIVE -GENERAL MANAGER HIMSELF INSPECTS CLEANLINESS OF STATIONS

A major cleanliness drive is being organized by South Eastern Railway at important stations under its jurisdiction.General Manager, SER Shri Radhey Shyam himself spent the whole day on 14.6.2014(Saturday) in inspecting the cleanliness of several stations in the Shalimar - Digha section of SER.
Shri Radhey Sham started his inspection schedule with a visit to Shalimar Yard, Booking Office & station and then inspected Mecheda, Tamluk, Kanthi & Digha stations.He gave special emphasis on the cleanliness aspect of the stations.He was accompanied by Chief Commercial Manager Shri S.K.Das, Divisional Railway Manager, Kharagpur Shri Gautam Banerjee and several other senior officers of Headquarters & Kharagpur Division.
General Manager/SER has also advised all Divisional Railway Managers of SER to monitor the cleanliness drives.Sr.Officers of the Divisions are also being deployed to inspect the drives. This massive cleanliness drive includes cleanliness of platforms, toilets at platforms, waiting and retiring rooms and other areas where passenger interactions are done.Trains passing through stations and originating from stations are also being cleaned thoroughly during the drives.
The objective of this drive is to make a visible impact in the passenger areas on cleanliness.
The launching of 2-week massive cleanliness drive in SER has been started from 6thJune, 2014 at all categorized stations (i.e. A1, A & B etc.).Jet cleaners and sophisticated modern equipments are being used in the drives.The departmental experts and other professional teams are actively participating in the drives. Street plays & skits are being performed at various stations urging the rail – users to keep the station and other railway premises clean.
Cleanliness drives are being organized in about 37 selected stations all over SER according to its importance and passenger footfall which include 21 stations in Kharagpur Division ; 6 stations in Chakradharpur Division ; 7 in Adra& 3 in Ranchi Divisions.
Shri Radhey Shyam, General Manager, South Eastern Railway appealed to all passengers and rail-users to co-operate with the railway authority to keep the railway premises clean and healthy.
