Press Release:*NAIHATI – KALYANI 3RD LINE (REVERSIBLE LINE) TO BE OPERATIONAL SHORTLY FOR PASSENGERS *



Kolkata, March 21, 2023 :

A good news for the commuters of Naihati - Kalyani section of Sealdah Division. Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS)/Eastern Circle, after conducting speed trial and other checks, has given authorization for opening of newly constructed 3rd Line (Reversible Line) from Naihati station to Kalyani station in Sealdah – Ranaghat section of Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway for passenger service. 

This 3rd Line (Reversible Line) section is also provided with automatic signalling for higher capacity and ease of traffic movement. The newly commissioned 3rd Line will help in increase in the sectional speed and also additional traffic requirements with the ever-busy suburban section of Sealdah Division.

As we are all aware that, Kalyani has its importance due to the presence of educational and agricultural universities & a big healthcare hub like AIIMS. This additional traffic capacity which is created by 3rd line (Reversible Line) will be of immense benefit for the passengers.

 Shri Arun Arora, General Manager/Eastern Railway has appreciated and expressed his happiness that the desire of the people of Sealdah – Ranaghat section, o­ne of the busiest suburban sections, is now being fulfilled.

Press Release:CRS INSPECTION ON NEWLY COMPLETED 3RD LINE BETWEEN NAIHATI AND KALYANI STATIONS OF SEALDAH DIVISION



Kolkata, March 20, 2023 :

Shri Suvomoy Mitra, Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS)/Eastern Circle inspected the newly constructed Broad Gauge 3rd line (Reversible Line) between Naihati and Kalyani station in a stretch of 14 KM o­n Sealdah – Ranaghat section of Sealdah Division, Eastern Railway today for opening up the route for public carriage of goods and passenger traffic. Shri Vijay Kumar Srivastava, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction)/Eastern Railway, Shri Deepak Nigam, Divisional Railway Manager/Sealdah along with other Senior officers of Eastern Railway accompanied him in this inspection. Shri Mitra inspected station premises, panel room & interlocking system of Naihati, Halisahar, Kanchrapara and Kalyani station. 

As a part of the inspection, Shri Mitra, Commissioner Railway Safety conducted motor trolley inspection in between Naihati and Kalyani station o­n the new (Reversible Line) line wherein, bridges, Railway Track fittings, P-way assets and level crossing gates were also inspected.

After the inspection, Shri Mitra also conducted Speed Trial o­n the new line from Kalyani to Naihati station and Naihati to Kalyani Station.
