दकà¥à¤·à¤¿à¤£ पशà¥à¤šà¤¿à¤® रेलवे / SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY STATUTORY INSPECTION OF NEWLY DOUBLED UGARKHURD – VIJAYANAGAR RAILWAY SECTION The doubling of railway track between Ugarkhurd – Vijayanagar (18.5 km) has been completed at a cost of Rs. 210 crore. Statutory inspection by Commissioner of Railway Safety is scheduled on 09.06.2023. After the inspection and compliances to various safety norms, the newly laid track will be open for railway service. The doubling is part of Londa – Miraj project sanctioned in 2015-16. The project is 100% funded by Ministry of Railways. So far, 154 km out of 186 km had been commissioned. The stretch from Londa – Ghataprabha was dedicated by Hon’ble PM in March 2023. Doubling of railway track enhances the capacity as well as safety. Not only can more number of trains be operated, but the direction of traffic is fixed (Up line and Down Line) and express / passenger trains need not wait for crossing of other trains (passenger or goods). The Newly doubled section between Ugarkhurd – Vijayanagar consists of 02 major bridges, 27 minor bridges and 2 Road Over Bridges. There are three stations namely Ugarkhurd, Vijayanagar & Shedbal. During the statutory inspection of commissioner of Railway Safety, speed trial will be carried out, therefore public are cautioned to the be careful and not trespass the railway tracks. Aneesh Hegde
