The Medical Department of Southern Railway conducted a Beneficiary Identification and Awareness drive at Dr MGR Central Railway Station today, 18th of June, 2019 in connection with Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) programme. The one day camp was launched in the presence of Southern Railway Officials Dr B.P.Nanda, Principal Chief Medical Director, Dr Nirmala Devi, Medical Director, Dr CVN Murthy, Chief Health Director, Dr Mrs. M.Nanda, Chief Medical Superintendent, Dr Anandan, Additional Chief Medical Director, Shri Guganesan, Station Director. Dr Manivannan from the State Health Authority and Ms Apurva Mahajan representative of the National Health Authority along with Shri Sai Nath, GM of MD INDIA Health (Pvt) Insurance Co Ltd, were also present during the Identification and Awareness Camp. A number of Contractual staff from various Railway departments including Coolie porters (Sahayaks) and Safai Karmacharis attended the camp and were identified as beneficiaries under PMJAY programme. National Health Agency has identified 91 Railway Hospitals and Health Units spread across 16 zones of Indian Railway for rendering Universal healthcare to about 10.74 crore poor, deprived rural families and identified occupational categories of urban workers’ families. These hospitals will implement the PMJAY scheme providing a cover upto Rs.5 lakhs per family per year, for secondary and tertiary hospitalisation and cashless access to healthcare services at the point of service to eligible individuals. 7 Railway Hospitals from Southern Railway have been empanelled for implementation of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana programme. The Union Government launched in September 2018 the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) to provide a cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation. So far, over 3.72 crore beneficiary e-cards have been generated under the scheme. Till date, over 28.91 hospital admissions were made under the scheme ensuring quality access to healthcare for the poor. For more details https://www.pmjay.gov.in/ Follow Us : - (D.
