SER WINS WOMEN’S TEAM EVENT IN

62ndALL INDIA RAILWAYS TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP

Kolkata, 28thJuly, 2014:

South Eastern Railway emerged champions in Women’s Team Event in the 62ndAll India Railways Table Tennis Championship held at Maligaon, Guwahati recently. Altogether six teams participated in the Women’s Section and the matches were played in round robin league system.

The Champion South Eastern Railway Women’s Team won all the five matches defeating Western Railway 3-1, Central Railway 3-1, Metro Railway 3-0, Northeast Frontier Railway 3-0 and Eastern Railway 3-0. Central Railway bagged the second position in Women’s team event.

The Champion South Eastern Railway Women’s Team was represented by Anindita Chakraborty, Medha Moitra, Pallabi Kundu, Saptaparni Guha and Gargi Nag.

Smt Anindita Chakraborty was the Coach-cum-Player while Shri S K Pandit was the Manager of the S E Railway Table Tennis Team.

In the Men’s Team Event South Eastern Railway bagged the 3rd position. Western Railway won the Championship while Southern Railway was Runners-Up.

The Men’s Individual Title was won by E.Pravakaran of Southern Railway who defeated Anirban Nandi of South Eastern Railway in the final by 4-2. Tekeme Sarkar of Northeast Frontier Railway won the Women’s Individual Title defeating Rupsha Bhattacharya of Metro Railway in the final by 4-3.
