North Central Railway to utilize migrant labouresrs in railway project directly as well as through MGNREGA

District wise list of Railway projects is being prepared to work out available man days in each project

During lockdown with many restrictions in place it was an uphill task to mobilize resources at various project sites of North Central Railway spread over 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh, 09 districts of Madhya Pradesh, 04 districts of Rajasthan and o­ne district in Haryana.The biggest difficulty was to get precious manpower resource during lockdown however with phased relaxations given by Government of India , North Central Railway could arrange requisite inputs for important works under execution over its territory and have started working o­n all important projects including capacity building , operational efficiency ,road safetyetc.

General Manager North Central and Northern Railway Sri Rajiv Chaudhry has emphasized to divisions and construction organization of NCRto explore possibility of using migrant labourers in Railway projects and other manpower intensive works over NCR territory. This will not o­nly provide work opportunityto labourersbut will also bring impetus to execution of these important infrastructural works.Meanwhile Railway board hascirculatedlist of 116 districts of the country and number of migrants returned to each district and has advised Zonal Railway to identify Railway projects in each district where services of these migrant labourers can be utilized either directly or through MGNREGA scheme. Officers in field have been asked to be in constant touch with local authorities and gram panchayats and workout man days which are available for contractual labour in each project under a particular district.

From keeping vigil at stations to stitching face covers for fellow Railwaymen- Railway Protection Force of North Central Railway contributing o­n all fronts against COVID-19 appropriate to the mission statement “Yasho Labhasv”

In wake of COVID-19, North Central Railway has taken series of steps againstthis pandemic while it continuesto upscale day to day operations and maintenance activities. 60000 strong members of North Central Railway Corona warriors’ team are working day and night to ensure safe, punctual and hassle-free transportation of passengers and goods to each part of the country. Besides serving to our valued customers, team of Railway Corona warriors is also working to keep corona virus at bay so as NCR continue to meet all critical transportation needs of the country in times to come. North Central Railway workforce has kept the wheels moving of national transporter in current difficult times with dedication, sincerity and hard work put in by each Railwaymen belonging to different disciplines. Railway Protection Force has been o­ne of the leading contributors in this fight against Covid-19 and have made many significant contributions in NCR’s endeavor against Covid-19.

In the beginning of the lockdown, protection force of Railway not o­nly ensured that all empty coaching rakes and over 400 stations and other railway properties are guardedwell but also shown humane face by serving over 30000 free meals to helpless and stranded persons near Railway stations besides assisting Rly doctor and paramedical staff in safe delivery of 16 babies in Shramik special trains .

Besides handling the mammoth exercise of escorting 429 timetabled parcel trains and over 4500 Shramik Special including empty coaching rakes over North Central territory, RPF has been actively involved in handling of 138 originating, 202 terminating and 70 Shramik specials with scheduled stoppage over NCR during boarding, deboarding, maintaining social distancing etc. at stations. With start of AC specials wef 12.05.20 and other special trains from01.06.20 , escorting of trains and activities at stations are being handled efficiently by RPF for 126 specials trains having stoppage over North Central Railway .

RPF personnel have also been instrumental in organizing innovative o­nline quizzes for family members of protection force during lockdown, running many awarenesscampaigns in railway colonies o­n corona including in disguise of monk,morale boosting exercise through songs etc.

With relentless efforts RPF of North Central Railway is not o­nly discharging its assigned duty diligently but also winning hearts by showing humanitarian approach fitting to RPF mission statement “Yasho Labhasv”.
