Two New Officers to head Operations & Commercial Departments of South Central Railway


Shri K. Siva Prasad, IRTS takes charge as Principal Chief Operations Manager, South Central Railway :

Shri K. Siva Prasad has taken charge as Principal Chief Operations Manager, South Central Railway today i.e., 24th June, 2019. He belongs to the 1986 batch of (IRTS) Indian Railway Traffic Service. Prior to this assignment he was holding the post of Principal Chief Commercial Manager, South Central Railway.

Shri K. Siva Prasad has completed his Post Graduation in Applied Geology from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur and also holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Osmania University, Hyderabad. During the course of his 32 years long illustrious career, he held several important Executive and Managerial positions in various Zonal Railways. He worked as Chief Freight Traffic Manager, North East Frontier Railway, Maligaon, Assam; Chief Freight Traffic Manager, Southern Railway, Chennai; Chief Freight Traffic Manager and Chief Passenger Traffic Manager, South Central Railway, Secunderabad.

It was during his stint as Chief Freight Traffic Manager o­n SCR, that the Zone achieved “100 Million Tonnes” of freight loading for the first time in 2011-2012. He has also been instrumental in leveraging the Long Term Tariff Contract (LTTC) agreement with bulk cement transport rail customers for transportation of freight traffic at fixed rates, which saw its fruition with M/s UltraTech Cements, thereby giving a crucial boost to freight loading o­n the Zone. Shri Siva Prasad also served o­n a special assignment as Officer o­n Special Duty for “Godavari Pushkarams” in the year 2003 at Rajahmundry and for “Kala Chakra” in the year 2004 at Guntur.

He was nominated for short-term assignment in Malaysia through Indian Railway Construction Company Limited (IRCON) o­n Safety Audit of Malaysian Railways. He has also attended training at International Railway Strategic Management Institute (IRSMI), UIC at Paris. He has a flair for delivering lectures, is a keen reader and an occasional writer besides being a fitness freak.

Shri G. John Prasad has taken charge as Principal Chief Commercial Manager, South Central Railway today i.e., 24th June, 2019. He belongs to the 1986 batch of (IRTS) Indian Railway Traffic Service. Prior to this assignment he was holding the post of Principal Chief Operations Manager, South Western Railway, Hubballi, Karnataka.

Shri G. John Prasad is a Post Graduate in Political Science from Central University of Hyderabad. During the course of his 32 years long illustrious career, he has held several important executive and managerial positions in Operations and Commercial Departments of various Zones. Amongst the posts he held are as Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad and Secunderabad Divisions of SCR in two different spells. He was also the Chief Commercial Manager (Catering & Passenger Service); Chief Commercial Manager (Freight Services) and Chief Traffic Planning Manager, SCR; Chief Passenger Transportation Manager, Southern Railway. He also served a spell as Chief General Manager, CONCOR (Container Corporation of India Limited), Southern Region, Chennai.

During his tenure as the head for Operations o­n South Western Railway in 2016-17, he was credited with achieving the best ever performance in freight loading o­n the Zone in the last o­ne decade. He also played a key role in handling train operations during Krishna Pushkaram in year 2004 when he was the Senior Divisional Operations Manager, Vijayawada Division, SCR.

Shri G. John Prasad completed o­ne Year Operational Management Program in Germany and a short term Multi-Modal Logistics Module at Antwerp, Belgium and in Italy. He is expert in Social Sciences, music lover and a fitness enthusiast.

SCR holds Meeting with Advertising & Publicity Agencies For Improvement of Non Fare Revenue


South Central Railway held a meeting with Business Partners in Advertising and Publicity agencies at SCR Headquarters, Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad today i.e., 11th June, 2019. Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR chaired the meeting. Shri John Thomas, Additional General Manager and other Principal Heads of Departments of SCR also participated.

Shri Gajanan Mallya urged the advertising and publicity agencies to come up with innovative ways to exploit the untapped potential of Indian Railways in the field of Commercial publicity. He stated that 734 Express/Passenger trains running with 100% occupancy every day, around 160 important stations, 24 MMTS stations and 121 MMTS services, a wagon fleet of 19900 wagons, 288 closed circuit rakes consisting of 16000 wagons and 1265 Locomotives sprawls into a huge space for advertisement potential for the marketing. He assured that the representations made by the advertising agencies will be considered with positive view and the administration will work towards improving the systems with mutual agreement to create a win-win atmosphere. He advised the Railway Officials to plan and co-ordinate in creating avenues of publicity and achieving the 33 crore Non Fare Revenue target fixed by the Railway Board for the year 2019-20 for South Central Railway.

Earlier, Shri K. Siva Prasad, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, SCR welcomed the gathering and briefed o­n business potential of publicity at railway premises. He also elaborated o­n the new and innovative ideas and concepts being envisaged by Indian Railways in the field of advertising in railway premises such as circulating area, station platforms, trains etc., where millions of passengers come across. The meeting was aimed at generation of Non-Fare Revenue for Railways and provision of facilities like content o­n demand for entertainment and education. He also detailed upon various changes in the procedures of awarding publicity to facilitate the advertisers. Later, Representatives interacted with General Manager and Officials and discussed o­n certain issues requiring attention.

Representatives from Department of Tourism, Government of Telangana and Government of Andhra Pradesh along with 20 leading advertising agencies including Prakash Arts, UNI Ads, Colorado Media, Kalyani Ads, Team Leads Corporates, Sree Guru Godavari Enterprises, Vyoma Technologies participated in the meeting and discussed o­n Non Fare Revenue policy issued by Railway Board to increase earnings through conventional and innovative methods of publicity. Senior Divisional Commercial Managers of all the six divisions also participated in the meeting.
