The first doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to the South Central Railway frontline medical staff at Central Railway Hospital, Lallaguda, Secunderabad today i.e., on 18th January, 2021 in the presence of Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR. The first vaccine shots were given to healthcare staff like Doctors, Nurses, and Housekeeping staff. During the COVID-19 pandemic these frontline healthcare staff of the Zone have rendered yeomen service, putting their physical, mental and social well-being at risk. Due to their dedicated service, the healthcare staff of the Zone are the first to be given COVID-19 vaccination doses, as part of the nationwide COVID vaccine drive to the frontline Health Care Personnel. The Zonal hospital in co-coordination with the Central and State Governments has received 593 doses of COVID-19 Vaccine. These vaccine shots will be given to all health care staff belonging to the health units of Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Chilkalguda, Kacheguda and Moula-ali over a period of six days. The health care staff which includes Doctors, Nursing Staff, Lab Technicians, Pharmacists and Housekeeping will be vaccinated in the first phase. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR expressed his happiness for arranging COVID-19 vaccine to the frontline staff working in Railways. He also lauded the services delivered by the medical personnel during these testing Pandemic times. Later, the General Manager conducted extensive inspection of the Central Hospital, Lallaguda and interacted with the patients and enquired about the services provided by the Railway Hospital. 2

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR inaugurated Mass Tree Plantation and Rain Water Harvesting programs at Chilkalguda Railway Colony on the occasion of World Environment Day, today i.e., 05th June, 2019. Shri John Thomas, Additional General Manager; Shri Sita Ram Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division, Senior officials and residents of colony participated in the programs. Shri Gajanan Mallya planted a sapling at Chilkalguda Railway colony, Secunderabad to commence the mass tree plantation drive. He called upon each one of the Railway Men to plant one sapling which is the need of the hour and nurture its growth, so as to enable create a greener environment. He expressed the resolve of SCR to undertake all measures towards environmental protection and conservation of nature. Earlier, the General Manager administered a pledge to the officials and residents of colony to keep the air space and premises of Railways clean and clear, thrive to reduce the air pollution by sharing rides to office, taking the bus or trains or bicycling and walking whenever it is possible. Later the General Manager inspected the Railway colony and interacted with residents of colony and advised them to contribute for the environmental protection. Similarly, at Secunderabad station an Environment Rally has been organized to educate the travelling passengers about the importance of beating the air pollution. A tree plantation program was conducted in the premises of Secunderabad Railway Station and a pledge was administered to the passengers and staff. At Guntakal Division, Shri Vijay Pratap Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal division administered a pledge to the Railway Staff, Passengers at Guntakal Railway Station. A massive plantation of saplings and bicycle rally has been organized to create the awareness about the greener environment. At Guntur Railway Station a pledge was administered to a large gathering of passengers and Railway staff by Additional Divisional Railway Manager. A rally with the theme of “Beat the Air Pollution” was organized in the Guntur city and mass plantation of saplings has been done. Nukkad Natak has been performed by the Railway Men to create awareness amongst the travelling passengers and general public about the need of participation by each and every individual to save the Planet Earth from Air Pollution.
