Press Release:DRM/SEALDAH INSPECTS SEALDAH – DIAMOND HARBOUR SECTION


Kolkata, March 16, 2023:

Sri Deepak Nigam, Divisional Railway Manager/Sealdah, along with other Senior Divisional Officers of Sealdah Division conducted inspection at the Sealdah-Diamond Harbour section o­n 16.03.2023. 

During the said visit, a window trailing inspection was conducted by DRM/Sealdah in which he inspected the various issues related to signalling, Permanent Way, existing unauthorized level crossings and planning for rectification of the same. 

During this maiden visit of Sri Deepak Nigam, he inspected panel rooms, points & crossings, had discussions over Yard diagram and related issues and other mass passenger contact areas like Booking office, Reservation counters etc.

  Sri Nigam vividly inspected the stations, platforms, status of the available amenities, shortcomings and augmentation thereof and issued instruction to the concerned officers for rectification/repairing. He further visited available space which are presently not in use and discussed for commercial exploitation and thereby add revenue to NFR basket. In continuation to this a formal discussion for provisioning of Executive Lounge and Roof Plaza at Sonarpur Station has been made with concerned Officers for planning and execution.

He pointed out the various areas where development is required and counselled the staff to be more vigil. He interacted with the passengers for their feedback and suggestions regarding improvement, he also interacted with the staff and enquired about the areas in which they are facing setback and suggested ideas to enhance their skill to provide better facilities to the passengers.

MALDA DIVISION ORGANIZED AWARENESS CAMPAIGN 
ON SAFETY AT LEVEL CROSSING GATES

Kolkata, January 10, 2023


In order to sensitize road users for ensuring safety at level crossing gates, Malda Division of Eastern Railway observed various safety seminars o­n manned level crossings gates involving Railway officials, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Scouts & Guides.

For prevention of the unauthorized trespassing, Malda Division has recently conducted campaigns in between Dhulian Ganga & Sankopara Railway station and at Chamagram station to reduce accidents at level crossing gates. A nukkad natak was staged o­n the theme of unauthorized trespassing by Railway scouts and guides to educate and create awareness amongst people.

Pamphlets and handbills in vernacular languages were distributed among the local public for mass awareness. Counselling was also done to encourage general public to use subway while crossing Railway lines. Special emphasis was laid o­n school going children. The officials of Malda Division visited nearby Government School and distributed the pamphlets among teachers and counsel the students regarding the perils of unauthorized trespassing of level crossing gates. The awareness campaign is yet another initiative taken by ER’s Malda Division to prevent any untoward incident at level crossings in a mission mode.
