In continuous effort to improve transportation of freight traffic, N. F. Railway has been opening new stations for handling inward and outward goods traffic. Few more railway stations have been opened for freight traffic during February, 2023 enabling easier transportation of various goods by customers. This is expected to benefit transporters in a big way along with development of local economy. To improve customer interface and further augment freight transportation, Mirza station under Rangiya division has been opened for handling of inward all goods traffic except coal, POL, live stock, explosive and crane consignment. Further, it has also been opened for handling of Parcel Cargo Express Train w.e.f. 15thFebruary, 2023. Permission for handling of inward Steel Pipe consignment in Harmuti station under Rangiya division has been extended for another 06 months w.e.f. 15th February, 2023. Earlier, it was opened for handling of inward Steel Pipe consignment for a period of 06 months w.e.f. 27th July, 2022. Namrup station under Tinsukia division has been opened for handling of outward sand traffic w.e.f. 23rd February, 2023. Further, permission has been extended for loading of coal traffic for another period of 06 months w.e.f. 28th February, 2023. Earlier, it was opened for handling of outward coal traffic on for a period of 03 months w.e.f. 10thOctober, 2022. To modernize parcel booking system and to enhance a user-friendly interface, a Parcel Management System (PMS) has been installed at Agthori Railway station under Lumding division on 14th February, 2023. Under the improved system, booking of parcels is being done at parcel offices through computerized system. Traders and businessmen now can avail these services for transportation of their merchandise in a fast, reliable and eco-friendly manner. They can also track their consignments. Kolkata, March 11, 2023 As a part of the Railway Ministry’s instructions for face lifting of 15 selected stations under Amrit Bharat Station phase-I, Divisional Railway Manager, Howrah, alongwith Divisional officers inspected Dankuni, Barddhaman and Chandannagar stations on 10.03.2023. The main objective of this inspection aims at improvement of second entry of the station building, traffic circulating area, interiors, waiting halls, toilets, furniture, central FOB with ramps, amenities for Divyangjans, sustainable and environment friendly solutions, provision of ballast less tracks, Roof Plazas, lifts & escalators as per requirement etc. to serve passengers with world-class facilities. Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, has recently announced the launching of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for bringing all facilities under o¬ne roof for convenience of the passengers & rail users. Presently, the scheme covers 1275 stations for upgradation/modernization over Indian Railways. Under this scheme, 94 stations in West Bengal, 86 in Bihar & 57 stations in Jharkhand are earmarked for development out of which 60 stations are in Eastern Railway network. The following 15 stations in Howrah Division have been selected for Amrit Bharat station scheme for development: 1) Barddhaman, 2) Rampurhat, 3) Bolpur, 4) Nabadwipdham, 5) Khagraghat Road, 6) Katwa, 7) Tarakeswar, 8) Seoraphuli, 9) Bally, 10) Azimganj Jn., 11) Dankuni, 12) Sainthia, 13) Chandannagar. 14) Pakur, & 15) Ambika Kalna. Amrit Bharat Station scheme envisages development of stations o¬n a continuous basis with a long-term approach. It involves preparation of Master Plans and their implementation in phases to improve the amenities at these stations. The scheme also emphasizes improvement of station buildings, integrating the station with both sides of the city, multi-modal integration, etc.
