MYSURU WORKSHOP IS THE FIRST WORKSHOP o­n IR TO SUCCESSFULLY MANUFACTURE THREE PHASE MEMU MOTOR COACH WHEEL SET

Mysuru Workshop of South Western Railway was established in 1924 as a base workshop of the erstwhile Mysore State Railway. The work shop has stared POH of BG coaches from 1994. With the introduction of LHB coaches o­n Indian Railways, workshop has been nominated to carry out Shop Shedule-1, Shop Shedule -2 and Shop Shedule -3 Schedules for the LHB coaches from 2012 o­nwards.

Recently, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) had sought Mysuru Workshop to manufacture the 900 Trailer Coaches Wheel sets for 225 Trailer Coach Cars and 300 Motor Coach Wheel Sets for 75 Motor Coach Cars.  BEML is manufacturing MEMU coaches for 8 car formation with Bombardier Propulsion System to ply between Ghaziabad and Delhi region. All the required Material including drill bits have to be supplied by BEML at their cost. The work consists of machining and pressing of wheel and Axle Assy.

Wheel shop of Mysuru Workshop has successfully manufactured High speed MEMU motor coach wheel that is fit to run at a speed of 160 kmph. This wheel manufacturing is under taken for the first time in Indian Railway workshop against M/s Bombardiar quality plan. M/S Bombardier Transportations use these type of Motor Suspension Unit (MSU) Assemblies for Electrical Multiple Unit (EMU) rakes in India.

The first batch of 6 wheel sets is ready for dispatch to BEML under deposit work of Rs.2.4 Crs.  188 Trailer Coach wheels and 52 Motor Coach wheels have so far been manufactured.

Shri T Srinivasu Chief Workshop Manager, Mysuru under the direction of Shri Ravi Kumar, PCME has executed this work for the first time o­n Indian Railways.

Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, GM/SWR commended the work of Mysuru Works shop and said that this is a big achievement as wheels were being manufactured in Rail Wheel factories usually.

North Central Railway making efforts to increase sectional speed up with safety in train operations

Major track maintenance inputs given in first quarter of Year 2020-21

North Central Railway under the able leadership of General Manager North Central and Northern Railway is putting its best foot forward to maintain safety while improving the sectional speed of its sections. North Central Railway serves a major portion of the two most critical trunk routes connecting national capital to eastern, southern and western part of nation. The speedy connectivitythrough trains can o­nly be achieved through upgradation and maintenance of current infrastructure. In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, North Central Railway performed substatially well in improving its sectional speeds and completing safety related works.

The entire Ghaziabad-Pt. DeenDayal Upadhyay section of Prayagraj Division,which is the more than 50% of very important Delhi-Howrah trunk route has been upgraded to sectional speed of 130 kmph after due clearance from Commissioner Railway Safety. The safety has been a key priority area for NCR and in order to ensure it conventional as well as modern technological tools are being used. Track health has been monitored over the zone using Total oscillation monitoring system (OMS). The system has been used to record 21523 kmof tracks over NCR during first quarter of o­ngoing financial year. Ultrasonic flaw detection technique is used to identify the flaws in tracks which are not visible through bare eyes. During the first three months almost 7000track kilometer Ultrasonic flaw detection (USFD) testing have been done.1872km. tamping of main line has been done during the period. During the current year,1099 nos. turnouts have been tamped, 16.069 track kilometer deep screening of main line have been done,.Destressing of tracks is an essential part of track maintenance during which the stress caused due to temperature fluctuation is relieved. 194.40 track kilometer of destressing has been done over the zone.Total 50track kilometerThrough Rail Renewal (Primary)60kg. has been done upto June, 20 this financial year, this will enable the better load bearing capacity for tracks. Total 34.37 track kilometerThrough Fitting Renewal has been done during the period.

Level crossings are not o­nly cause safety concerns but also create operation constraints. In order to eliminate manned level crossing 01Road over bridge (ROB) &01 Road under bridge (RUB) havealso been completed during the current financial year.
