ER PARCEL EXPRESS TRAINS TRANSPORTED 6525 TONNES OF PARCEL TRAFFIC DURING DECEMBER 2020


Kolkata, January 10, 2021:

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 globally, lockdown was introduced in our country from 22.3.2020. 

All the trains running were suspended from 24.3.2020. To continue the supply chain of essential items, Eastern Railway started running of Time Tabled COVID Parcel Special Trains to different destinations from 8.4.2020 from three stations in Kolkata area viz. Howrah, Sealdah & Kolkata to offer safe, secured, economical & environment friendly mode of transportation. The five destinations where the Parcel Express Trains run include Guwahati, Agartala, Amritsar, New Delhi & Gorakhpur o­n different days of a week.

The Parcel Express trains supply vegetables and other perishable consignments alongwith general merchandise and essential commodities. For the convenience of the customers, the minimum composition of Parcel Express Trains has been reduced from 20 parcel vans to 15 and 10 parcel vans for perishables. Moreover, enroute stoppages were increased as per demand.

During December 2020, 6525 tonnes of parcel traffic was transported, generating revenue of ₹2.18 crores. In terms of transportation time and cost effectiveness, Parcel Express Trains are more convenient than road transport and is more safe & secured.

Running of Parcel Express Trains facilitate back end supply chain to meet the demand in the market of the country. The growth of parcel business is very important as these services are used by small traders and businessmen. Eastern Railway’s aim is to steep growth in parcel business and to explore more efforts and innovative ideas to bring the desired growth.

Parcel Express Trains run punctually to gain customers’ confidence for using the services.

EXTENSION OF RUNNING OF PARCEL EXPRESS SPECIAL TRAINS

Kolkata, 9th January, 2021:

It has been decided to continue the running of00615/00616 KSR Bengaluru-Howrah Bi-weekly Parcel Express Special, 00617/00618 KSR Bengnaluru-Dimapur Weekly Parcel Express Special and 00619/00620 KSR Bengaluru-Guwahati Weekly Parcel Express Special trains up to March 2021 in diverted route with revised timings as given below :

00616/00615 Howrah – KSR Bengaluru Bi-weekly ParcelExpress Special

00616 Howrah-KSR Bengaluru Bi-weekly Parcel Express Special will leave Howrah every Friday and Sunday at 12:00 hrs during the period from 10/01/2021 to 02/4/2021 and will reach KSR Bengaluru at 08:40 hrson Sunday and Tuesday respectively.

In the opposite direction, 00615 KSR Bengaluru-Howrah Parcel Express Special leaves KSR Bengaluru every Wednesday and Friday at 12:00 hrs during the period from 08/01/2021 to 31/3/2021 and will reach Howrah at 06:15 hrs o­n Friday and Sunday respectively.

The train will stop at Mecheda, Panskura, Kharagpur and Balasore in SER jurisdiction.

00617/00618 KSR Bengaluru-Dimapur Weekly ParcelExpress Special

00617 KSR Bengaluru-Dimapur Weekly Parcel Express Special will leave KSR Bengaluru every Sunday at 12:00 hrs during the period from 10/01/2021 to 28/3/2021 and will reach Dimapur at 15:00 hrson Wednesday.

In the opposite direction, 00618Dimapur-KSR Bengaluru Parcel Express Special will leave Dimapur every Wednesday at 17:30 hrs during the period from 13/01/2021 to 31/3/2021 and will reach KSR Bengaluru at 23:00 hrs o­n Saturday.

The train will stop at Mecheda, Panskura, Kharagpur and Balasore in SER jurisdiction.

 

00619/00620 KSR Bengaluru-Guwahati Weekly ParcelExpress Special

00619 KSR Bengaluru-Guwahati Weekly Parcel Express Special will leave KSR Bengaluru every Tuesday at 12:00 hrs during the period from 12/01/2021 to 30/3/2021 and will reach Guwahati at 07:10 hrson Friday.

In the opposite direction, 00620 Guwahati -KSR Bengaluru Parcel Express Special will leave Guwahati every Saturday at 04:00 hrs during the period from 16/01/2021 to 03/4/2021 and will reach KSR Bengaluru at 23:00 hrs o­n Monday.

The train will stop at Mecheda, Panskura, Kharagpur and Balasore in SER jurisdiction.
