WESTERN RAILWAY & IRCTC DISTRIBUTED FREE MEALS TO ABOUT 4.74 LAKH NEEDY PERSONS IN LAST 38 DAYS IN 6 DIVISIONS OF WRThe Mission Food Distribution being organised jointly by Western Rly & IRCTC, entered in its 38th day on 5th May, 2020, as it was started on 29th March, 2020. In last 38 days during lockdown, total 4.74 lakh food packets were distributed in all 6 divisions of Western Rly, to various needy & helpless persons. Out of this, a major share of 2.47 lakh food packets, has been provided by West Zone of IRCTC from its base kitchens at Mumbai Central & Ahmedabad. According to a press release, issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar- Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Rly, staff of Western Railway from commercial, RPF & other departments with the help of IRCTC, have worked tirelessly, since 29th March, 2020 to provide hot cooked meals to needy during the lockdown due to COVID-19. Western Railway has been providing bulk quantity of cooked food with paper plates for lunch and food packets for dinner through IRCTC's base kitchens on daily basis with cooperation of NGOs. While delivering the food to needy persons, necessary aspects of social distancing and hygiene are being ensured minutely by all concerned. He stated Western Railway & IRCTC's West Zone are continuing their efforts to reach out to the needy persons, who are adversely affected and hit by the effects of Corona pandemic, This mission has been very successful, as till now 1416 brave commercial warriors of WRly, along with other RPF staff & NGOs volunteers have actively contributed in distribution of this community bhojan in various areas of WR.In continuation to this, on 5th May , 2020, total 7188 food packets were distributed over six divisions of W.Rly. In addition to IRCTC's community food, Mumbai Central division's commercial staff distributed 710 meal packets through various NGOs at different places over Mumbai Division, while in Ahmedabad division, 3425 food packets were distributed other than IRCTC. Vadodara division also distributed 1500 food packets through Akshay Patra Foundation in Vadodara city. 50 food packets were distributed by Rly local staff and NGOs at Sihor . 243 meal packets were distributed by Rajkot division at Jamnagar, Surendra Nagar, Wankaner and Hapa with the help of Sai Seva Trust , Jalaram Seva Trust and Reliance Ind Ltd. 210 food packets were distributed at different stations over Ratlam division. Jain Sangh of Vapi distributed 50 food packets to housekeeping staff, parcel loaders and on duty staff at Vapi station. . CIRCUMFERENCE OF MISSION DISTRIBUTION OVER WR EXTENDED WITH INCLUSION OF MEDICINES, MASKS & GROCERY KITS IN ADDITION TO FOOD Circumference of Mission Distribution campaign over Western Rly, has been further extended, as in addition to food & meals, various new items have been included in this unique service mission, such as Ayurvedic & Homeopathic medicines, homemade masks, washing items & grocery kits, which are being distributed to needy persons at various locations in all 6 divisions of Western Rly. According to a press release, issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar- Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Rly, Western Railway staff from commercial, RPF & other departments with the help of IRCTC, have worked tirelessly, since 29th March, 2020 to provide hot cooked meals to needy people during the lockdown due to COVID-19. So far, WR and IRCTC have distributed 3.81 lakh bhojan packets to needy and poor persons in various divisions of Western Rly, during last 30 days up to 27th April, 2020, as this mission food distribution was started on 29th March, 2020. This mission has been very successful, as till now 1170 brave commercial warriors of WRly, along with other RPF staff & NGOs volunteers have actively contributed in distribution of this community bhojan in various areas of WR. Under the unique initiative of Mission Food Distribution, on 27th April, 2020, IRCTC's West Zone served 4800 community meals from its base kitchen at Mumbai Central to NGO's spread over South and Central Mumbai like Giants Group, Nanhi Pari, Salaam Mumbai, Akhil Bharatiya Samiti, Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, Angels Charitable Trust etc. IRCTC's West Zone provided 3000 community bhojan packets from its Ahmedabad base kitchen, as the Commercial and RPF Departments of Western Railway actively contributed in distribution of these food packets. In continuation to this, on 27th April, 2020, total 13,342 food packets were distributed over six divisions of W.Rly. In addition to IRCTC's community food, Mumbai Central division's commercial staff distributed 710 meal packets through various NGOs at different places over Mumbai Division, while in Ahmedabad division, 3175 food packets were distributed other than IRCTC. Vadodara division also distributed 1500 food packets through Akshay Patra Foundation in Vadodara city in addition to this 85 food packets were distributed to labourers at Nadiad Goods shed. 200 food packets were distributed by Rly local staff and NGOs at Sihor and 50 Ration kits at Bhavnagar with the help of Commercial staff and NGOs. 342 meal packets were distributed by Rajkot division at Jamnagar, Surendra Nagar, Wankaner and Hapa with the help of Sai Seva Trust , Jalaram Seva Trust and Reliance Ind Ltd. 215 food packets were distributed at different stations over Ratlam division. Jain Sangh of Vapi distributed 50 food packets to housekeeping staff, parcel loaders and on duty staff at Vapi station. Yogada Satsanga Society of India provided 115 food packets, which were distributed to Jag Jivan Ram Hospital patients and attendants. Welingkar College Matunga provided 100 food packets. Vedanta Group provided 270 food packets, ZRUCC member Shri Ketan Shah provided 100 food packets and Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust provided 75 food packets for distribution in Mumbai division. These 445 food packets were distributed to needy persons at Matunga Road and Charni Road stations by Ticket checking staff in co-ordination with BMC officials. Shri ashok Sahu- Technician of MEMU shed handed over 100 washable face masks to Loco shed staff, which were made by his daughter Kumari Manisha Sahu from their own cotton clothes. Similarly, Shri Dinesh Modi - Sr Section Engineer of coaching depot. of Ahmedabad and his wife prepared masks for Rly staff. So far they have made 1600 home made masks & have handed over to Rly authorities. ……………..
