Press Release: SATSANG NAGAR ROAD OVER BRIDGE INAUGURATED

SATSANG NAGAR ROAD OVER BRIDGE INAUGURATED

Kolkata, April 14, 2022:

As a part of Railway’s endeavour for safe and fast connectivity, a new Road Over Bridge has been inaugurated at Satsang Nagar in presence of Shri Champai Soren, Hon’ble Minister-in- Charge, Transport, Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Cast, Minority and Backward Class Welfare Department, Government of Jharkhand and Shri Nishikant Dubey, Hon’ble Member of Parliament today (14.04.2022). Shri Narayan Das, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.Shri Parmanand Sharma, DRM/ Asansol and other Branch Officers of Asansol Division were also present.

The Road Over Bridge in lieu of level crossing gate (No. 4/E/Spl.) between Satsang Nagar & Baidyanath Dham stations in ER’s Asansol division has been completed with targeted time and was sanctioned on 50 : 50 cost sharing basis with the State Govt. of Jharkhand. Road Over Bridge has been completed by Eastern Railway on single entity basis.

Total length of this ROB is 664.8.metre and expenditure for construction of the road over bridge  is ₹37.68 crore. Now, level crossing No. 4/E/Spl. will be closed permanently to allow all traffic to pass through this newly constructed road over bridge.

This road over bridge is constructed on Satsang Nagar – Bhikribad major district road in Deoghar district of Jharkhand which connects Banka/Bhagalpur area and Madhupur/Giridih area. Construction & commissioning of this road over bridge will facilitate smooth & congestion free movement for all types of road vehicles & users. Now, even higher dimension vehicles can ply over this road. Travel time will be reduced substantially as vehicles would not be required to wait at this busy level crossing. Closure of level crossing gate will enhance safety of road users and at the same time it will facilitate in enhancing average speed of trains passing through this section. It will thus contribute towards economic development of Jharkhand in general & this area in particular.

Closure of this level crossing is a big achievement towards commitment to Indian Railways target of removing manned level crossings from its existing network, as envisaged by Railway Board from time to time. It will substantially enhance safety of passengers & goods trains. Moreover, this will also save the running & maintenance cost of manned level crossing to the tune of ₹25 lakhs per year.
