INTRODUCTION OF RANCHI-GODDA TRI WEEKLY SPECIAL

 

Kolkata, 24thSeptember, 2021:

 

Keeping in view the demand of the passengers, it has been decided to introduce 08603/08604 Ranchi-Godda-Ranchi Tri Weekly Special Train w.e.f 29.09.2021. o­n the inaugural day, 08604 Godda-Ranchi Tri Weekly Special will run o­n open path timings with tentative departure from Godda at 13.15 hrs. The regular run will commence from Ranchi as 08603 Ranchi-Godda Tri Weekly Special from 30.09.2021 and as 08604 Godda-Ranchi Tri Weekly Special from 01.10.2021.


08603 Ranchi-Godda Tri Weekly Special leaving Ranchi every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 15.00 hrs will arrive Godda at 07.20 hrs the next day. In the return direction, 08604 Godda-Ranchi Tri Weekly Special leaving Godda every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 12.40 hrs will arrive Ranchi at 05.45 hrs the next day.

 

The train will have o­ne First AC, o­ne AC 2 Tier, o­ne AC 3 Tier, four Sleeper Class and five General Second Class coaches and will have stoppages at Muri, Bokaro Steel City, Chandrapura, Katrasgarh, Dhanbad, Chittaranjan, Vidyasagar, Madhupur, Jasidih, Jhajha, Jamui, Kiul, Abhaipur, Jamalpur, Bariarpur, Sultanganj, Bhagalpur, Barahat, Manderhill, Hansdiah and Poreyahat stations between Ranchi and Godda. 08604 Godda-Ranchi Special will also stop at  Dharhara and Kajrastations.

Kolkata, August 13, 2021:

Shri Arun Arora, General Manager, Eastern Railway handed over the prestigious Overall Efficiency Cup to Howrah Division for 2019-20 & to Asansol Division for 2020-21 for outstanding performance while Asansol & Howrah Divisions bagged the Overall Efficiency Runners Up Cup for 2019-20 & 2020-21 respectively o­n the occasion of 65th & 66th Railway Week celebration, organized by Eastern Railway, at B C Roy Institute, Sealdah today (13th August, 2021).Further, 35 Shields and Cups were presented by Shri Arun Arora, General Manager, Eastern Railway & Shri Aneet Dulat, Additional General Manager.

            Apart from those shields and cups, 223 Railwaymen/Women were chosen for medals and cash awards for their dedicated and outstanding performance during the year 2019-20 and 2020-21. Apart, 35 employees including Hospital Attendants, Pointsmen, Porters etc. have been awarded as COVID warriors.

            Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri Arora, General Manager, Eastern Railway, said that this year, despite COVID situation, Eastern Railway achieved a freight loading of 67.86 Million Tones and originating goods earning of Rs. 4995.91 Crores during 2020-21. The average speed of freight trains in Eastern Railway reached 56.6 KMPH in March, 2021 which is about three times higher than that of the corresponding month of previous year. Eastern Railway always keeps safety o­n top priority and promotes2 safety consciousness among the employees. No major accident has been taken place during the current financial year so far.

Safety has always been the topmost priority of Eastern Railway. Eastern Railway is happy to announce that all the officers and employees make every effort to ensure safety in train operation and as a result the number of consequential accidents in Eastern Railway has come down to ‘Zero’ during 2020-21.

 Punctuality has always been a matter of high priority for Eastern Railway. During the year 2020-21, punctuality performance of Mail/Express trains of Eastern Railway has been 94.75 %.

 Despite pandemic situation and subsequent nationwide lockdown, Eastern Railway has managed to complete 16.50 KM of Newlines, 39.94 KM of Doubling/ 3rd Line/ 4th Line and 477.25 Track KM of Electrification works during the crucial period of 2020-21.

                On the occasion of Railway Week award Sealdah Division has introduced standout technical innovation of dual power ticket checking cum Break down car which can be used as both Ticket Checking Special as well as o­nline breakdown attention of EMU/MEMU. This is basically as 3-coach EMU rake which can be operated through 25 KV OHE and battery mode as well. These dual mode ticket checking-cum-breakdown car will primarily improve efficiency of the Division towards ticket checking performance and at the same time it will help in increasing operational mobility.

              On the eve of 75th year of Independence Day Celebration as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Malda Division has also developed another innovative solar powered e-Motor Trolley, o­ne step further towards Green Railway energy for Mission Zero Carbon Emission. The e-Motor Trolley with ample lighting arrangement for night inspection as well will facilitate inspection of newly electrified section from Bhagalpur to Dumka and Barahat to Banka of Malda Division with a maximum speed of 50 kmph.

              On the occasion of 65th & 66th Railway Week Award, as a part of extraordinary endeavour towards preservation of priceless Railway Heritage, Eastern Railway has restored & digitised Heritage Time Table of East Indian Railway & Eastern Railway for the years 1869, 1891, 1903, 1906, 1917 & 1948.

These years have been chosen due to specific historic & political backdrops, i.e., in 1869 oldest timetable of East Indian Railway was available, in 1891 after promulgation of Indian Railways Act, in 1906 Railway Board was formed, in 1917 was the year when East Indian Railway & Eastern Railway were bifurcated and 1948 was the year when first timetable was published in India after achieving its independence.

 

Worldwide Railway Time Tables has a fascinating history since its advent in the year 1839 in England. East Indian Railway which ran the first train in Eastern India o­n 15th August 1854 from Howrah to Hooghly had used to publish Railway Time Tables featuring a host of Railway information including train routes, stoppages, passenger fares, amenity at stations, tourist information etc. Eastern Railway, in an unprecedented initiative by Shri U. K. Bal, Principal Chief Operations Manager, Shri A. K. Maitra, Retired Additional Member/Traffic, Shri Sanjoy Mookerjee, Retired Finance Commissioner and Shri G. K. Mohanty, Retired Principal Chief Operations Manager/South Eastern Railway have decided to restore & digitise the time tables in order to preserve these invaluable documents and pave way for future researches.

 

Principal Heads of Departments and other dignitaries graced the occasion. The Railway Week Award function was followed by a colourful cultural extravaganza.
