WESTERN RLY SURPASSED THE FIGURE OF 3.14 LAKH FREE MEALS TO NEEDY PERSONS ACROSS ALL DIVISIONS DURING
                                  LAST 25 DAYS OF LOCK DOWN

Despite all its passenger trains & operations at a standstill, IRCTC's base kitchen at Mumbai Central is still abuzz with cooking activity for its social welfare act of producing community meals. Community Bhojan made at the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation's base kitchens in Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad  is being distributed to the most helpless in their darkest hour under Mission Food Distribution since 29th March, 2020. Under this unique mission over all 6 divisions of Western Rly, during last 25 days upto 22nd April, 2020, approximately 3.14 lakh food packets have been distributed over WR. In this big figure, 1.68 lakh food packets have been prepared to distribute at Mumbai Central & Ahmedabad by IRCTC, while remaining food packets have been distributed by all 6 divisions with the help of other charitable sources.

 According to a press release, issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar- Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Rly, meal production and distribution by IRCTC's Mumbai Central base kitchen o­n  22nd April, 2020, was 5600 which was distributed by W. Rly RPF commercial staff of WR, with the help of various NGOs like Salaam Mumbai & Terapanth Yuvak Parishad alongwith volunteers teams of State Govt. & BMC. 3000 food packets were prepared & distributed  by IRCTC's Ahmedabad base kitchen o­n 22nd April, 2020.

It's worth mentioning that out of total 3.14lakh food packets, highest 1.30 lakh food packets have been distributed by Mumbai division, while 2nd highest 1.27 lakh packets were distributed by Ahmedabad division, followed by appox 35  thousand by Vadodara division, 7 thousand each by Rajkot & Bhavnagar division and 5thousand by Ratlam divisio. In distribution of these food packets commercial & RPF staff are playing vital role with several volunteers of NGOs.

     o­n 22nd  April, 2020, total 6525 meals were distributed in Mumbai Division and 6275 meals distributed in Ahmedabad division. Under DRM's  benevolent fund, employees of personnel dept. of Ahmedabad,  distributed 975food packets at different places of Ahmedabad Division with the help of State Police . WR's employee at DRM office, Shri Pavan Kumar Yadav and his wife Mrs. Mamta Yadav   made 400 cotton masks at their home and handed over to personnel department, for   distribution at Mani Nagar Rly colony. Vadodara division supplied 1690  food packets which include 150  meals of Daal, Sabji & Rice to labourers at Nadiad goods shed by Jay Manav Seva Parivar Trust  and 1540in  Vadodara city. 450 food packets were distributed by Bhavnagar division with the help of Ticket Checking staff at Sihor and Junagadh. A Rly employee Shri V. V. Wagh from Mahuva distributed 80 Ration kits containing 5 Kgs Wheat, 1 Kg Chana daal, 1 Kg Cooking Oil, 2 Kgs Rice and Salt packing to needy persons at Bhardod Village. 342 meal packets were distributed by Rajkot division. Ratlam division distributed 340  food packets. Thirty packets of Homeo and Aurvedic Medicines handed over to Chief Loco Supervisor at Vadodara by chief welfare inspector. ZRUCC member Shri J. J. Rajput & HSE foundation of Bharuch distributed masks and sanitizers to cleaning staff of Bharuch & Ankleshwar stations.

In the unique social initiative of "Mission Food Distribution", West Zone of IRCTC has crossed the big figure of 3 lakh o­n 19th April, 2020, as they have prepared & distributed 3,16,417food packets ofDal Khichdi with pickle & other meals during last 22 days from 29th March, 2020 to 19th April, 2020 for the needy and destitute persons through its 5 base kitchens at Mumbai Central & Ahmedabad of WR, Bhusawal & Pune of Central Rly & Itarsi of West Central Rly. Out of these a big share i.e. 1.65 lakh food packets have been distributed over WR in nearby areas at Mumbai Central&Ahmedabad Rly stations. IRCTC is trying hard for providing meals to the poor and needy persons in the mega city from its base kitchen at Mumbai Central, without a hint of giving up andhave continued its mission for providing meals to the troubled in the nearby areas of Mumbai Central station.

According to a press release, issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar- Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Rly, community Bhojan made at the IRCTC's kitchen at Mumbai Central, has been distributed to the most helpless persons through NGOs like Salaam Mumbai, MC AALM, Sainath Mahila Mandal, Akhil Bharatiya Samiti, Collectors Office, Nanhi Pari, Terapanth Yuvak Parishad & various other NGOs across Mumbai, in co-ordination with the Commercial and RPF staff of Western Railway. 5300 meal packets in Mumbai and 3000meal packets in Ahmedabad were produced and distributed by IRCTC o­n 19th April, 2020. To tackle the high demands, IRCTC has tied up with KendriyaBhandars across in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and other cities wherever they are in operation for supplying raw materials to ensure continuous preparation of community food o­n daily basis. IRCTC's WestZone Group General Manager Shri Rahul Himalian stated that community Bhojan is made at the IRCTC's base kitchen at Mumbai Central with all best possible safety measures & aspects. He said that till dateIRCTC'sMumbai Central base kitchen has supplied 1,14,090and Ahmedabad base kitchen has supplied 49,687food packets till now. On 19h April, 2020. 6520 meals were distributed by Mumbai Division. Vadodara division has supplied 1550 food packets in Vadodara city through Jay Manav Seva Pariwar Trust. 125 Meals were given to labourers ofNadiad Goods shed. Similarly, 150ration kitswere distributed by Bhavnagar division with the help ofNGOs at Sihor and Bhavnagar. In addition to this 40ration Kits containingBajra, Mung dal, Tuver dal, Rice, Cooking Oil, Chilli powder, Haldi powder, Potatoes, o­nion, Salt and Bath Soaps have been distributed in Mill Chali at Mahuva, Rapar, Longiya, Bhadrod, Talgajarda, Jadra, Dudhala and Madhiya villages to poor & needy persons. 294 meal packets were distributed by Rajkot division.More over 300 mealscontaining Paav Bhaji and Butter Milk were distributed to needy persons bychecking staff of WR at Junagadh. Ratlam division has distributed 345food packets . RPF of WR prepared and distributed 450 food packets from its own sources, as well as 700 food packets provided by NGOs were also distributed to helpless persons.
