“GARIB KALYAN SAMMELAN” ORGANISED AT SIX LOCATIONS OVER

KHARAGPUR & ADRA DIVISIONS OF SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY

Kolkata, 31st May, 2022:

 

As a part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 years of Independence, “Garib Kalyan Sammelan” was organised at six stations/locations of Kharagpur and Adra Divisions of South Eastern Railway today (31-5-2022). The programme was organised at Purulia, Bankura and Bishnupur Stations of Adra Division and Kharagpur (South Institute), Jhargram and Digha Stations of Kharagpur Division. Elected representatives at these places interacted with the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes of Govt. of India.

 

The National Level Event of “Garib Kalyan Sammelan” was organised today at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh in presence of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. Hon’ble Prime Minister interacted through video conferencing with the beneficiaries of the several welfare schemes of Govt. of India viz. PM Awas Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM Ujjwala Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat and various other schemes.

 

In West Bengal, the State Level Event was organised at Railway Indoor Stadium, Behala, Kolkata. Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology was the Chief Guest of the event. Shri Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition of West Bengal Legislative Assembly was the Guest of Honour. Hon’ble Railway Minister in his address, mentioned about Government’s commitment for upliftment of poor, weaker and deprived sections of the society through its different welfare schemes.

 

In the Garib Kalyan Sammelan organised at Purulia Station, Sri Baneswar Mahato, Hon’ble MLA, Sri Narahari Mahato, Hon’ble MLA, Sri Sudip Kumar Mukherjee, Honble MLA, Sri Kamalakanta Hansda, Hon’ble MLA, Sri Nadiar Chandra Bouri, Hon’ble MLA and Sri Vivekananda Bauri, Hon’ble MLA were present. At the Garib Kalyan Sammelan held at Bankura Station, Dr. Subhas Sarkar, Hon’ble Minister of State for Education, Govt. of India was present along with Smt. Chandana Bauri, Hon’ble MLA, Sri Satyanarayan Mukhopadhyay, Hon’ble MLA, Sri Niladri Sekhar Dana, Hon’ble MLA and Sri Harakali Protiher, Hon’ble MLA. The programme at Bishnupur was attended by Sri Saumitra Khan, Hon’ble MP, Sri Amarnath Sakha, Hon’ble MLA, Sri Nirmal Kumar Dhara, Hon’ble MLA and Sri Dibakar Gharami, Hon’ble MLA.

 

In the Garib Kalyan Sammelan organised at South Institute, Kharagpur, Sri Dilip Ghosh, Hon’ble MP, Sri Hiran Chatterjee, Hon’ble MLA and Sri Sital Kapat, Hon’ble MLA were present. Sri Kunar Hembram, Hon’ble MP was present at Jhargram Station while Smt. Tapasi Mondal, Hon’ble MLA, Smt Sumita Sinha, Hon’ble MLA, Sri Rabindranath Maity, Hon’ble MLA, Sri Santanu Pramanik Hon’ble MLA and Sri Arup Kumar Das, Hon’ble MLA were present at Digha Station.

COMMENDABLE PERFORMANCE OF ER/RPF

          Apart from round-the-clock monitoring of security aspects of passengers, Railway Protection Force of Eastern Railway also shows humane activity towards the passengers in need.

RESCUE OF MINOR BOYS:

·During a joint drive conducted by RPF Post/Pakur and Child Helpline/Pakur o­n 23.3.2020, 7 minor boys moving aimlessly at Pakur Railway station were rescued. o­n interrogation, they disclosed that they were proceeding to Ranchi for working purpose. Later, all were handed over to Child Line, Pakur for further course of action under proper documentation.

·On 23.2.2020 RPF Post/Sahibganj rescued o­ne runaway minor boy from Train No. 53403 Rampurhat – Gaya passenger at Sahibganj station. Later, the boy was handed over to Child Line, Sahibganj under proper documentation.

RECOVERY OF LEFT-BEHIND LUGGAGE/ARTICLES:

·On 21.2.2020, RPF post Andal recovered a left behind bag containing personal belongings and cash of ₹5,000/- from Train No. 73538 Jasidih – Andal DMU at Tapasi Railway station. Later, the recovered bag was handed over to its owner after proper verification & documentation.

·On 23.2.2020 RPF Post, Asansol recovered o­ne left behind Laptop Bag containing o­ne laptop, QMRA machine related to medical purpose, other documents etc. valued ₹45,000/- from Train No. 63576 Asansol – Jhajha passenger at Asansol station. Later, the recovered bag was handed over to its owner after due verification & documentation.
