GM/ER’S EMPHASIS on PASSENGERS SAFETY AND HIGHER SPEED OF TRAINS Kolkata, January 19, 2021: Shri Manoj Joshi, General Manager, Eastern Railway in a virtual meeting with Principal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers at ER Headquarters, Fairlie Place today (19.01.2021) has laid special emphasis on passengers safety & higher speed of trains. Shri Aneet Dulat, Additional General Manager was also present in the meeting. During the meeting, passengers safety was considered as a matter of utmost importance. There should be zero tolerance on safety issues. With the resumption of long distance trains as well as short distance trains & EMU locals there is greater need of safety inspection by officers and officials at different levels. Shri Joshi advised that all concerned officers should be extra cautious and conduct thorough safety inspection and arrange for frequent safety patrolling. Train running staff should be sensitized to run trains cautiously especially during foggy weather to ensure passengers safety. Extensive use of Fog Safe Device should be ensured to maintain speed of trains at desired level and to minimize the scope of late running of trains due to poor visibility on account of foggy weather. The GM discussed at length about the preparedness of running more passenger trains in coming days based on passengers demand observing Covid protocols. Besides safety, passengers security was also given priority. GM expressed his satisfaction about the continuous endavour of ER’s RPF for ensuring passenger security and protection of Railway property. RPF has launched ‘Operation Dignity’ and ‘Meri Saheli’ programme to ensure security & dignity of lady passengers. Shri Joshi laid stress on freight loading for transportation of essential commodities and other industrial inputs in different parts of the country. Shri Joshi also advised the concerned officials to continue their efforts for even better passenger amenities, more lifts & escalators, frequent cleanliness drive, beautification and improved aesthetics at stations and trains so that passengers can enjoy comfort while at the station premises or in trains. 2

Shri Sanjay Kumar Mishra took over as Principal Chief Engineer, NCR After successful tenure Shri Sharad Mehta joined as CAO(Con), NCR On 18thJanuary 2021 Shri Sanjay Kumar Mishra took over as Principal Chief Engineer, North Central Railway, Prayagraj. He belongs to 1986 batch of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) and has more than 30 years of experience in development and maintenance of Railway Infrastructure. He has earlier worked in South Central Railway, Secunderabad and North Eastern Railway, Gorakhpur in various important capacities as Sr Divisional Engineer, Deputy Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer in Open Line and Construction Organization. He has completed many important Construction projects of Doubling and Gauge Conversion etc. including construction of important bridges on Ghaghra, Rapti and Ganga rivers. Prior to joining as PCE NCR Shri Sanjay Kumar Mishra was working as CPD (Station Development) on North Eastern Railway. Shri S K Mishra has taken over charge ofthe post of PCE NCR from Shri Sharad Mehta who has been working as PCE NCR since 26.03.2019 and after completing successful tenure joined as Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) on North Central Railway itself. Officers and staff of North Central Railway conveyed their best wishes to Shri S K Mishra and Shri Sharad Mehta for their new and important assignments on North Central Railway.
