CR plans more summer specials trains from Mumbai/Pune 

Central Railway is already running regular special trains to various destinations across the country out of which many trains are towards destinations in North and East. 

To cater to the extra rush of passengers in the ensuing summer, apart from regular special trains Central Railway has so far run 76 summer special trains towards destinations in North and East during the period from 7.4.2021 to 15.4.2021 from Mumbai/Pune/Solapur area.

Special trains are planned based o­n the rush behaviour towards destinations as constant watch is kept and announced to clear the extra rush. 154 more summer special trains are announced for the period from mid-April to first week of May 2021 from Mumbai/Pune to destinations in North and East. Additional summer special trains will be announced in due course of time.

Passengers are requested to book their tickets through www.irctc.co.in and follow regular advertisements about special trains that are announced & social media for regular updates.
Only passengers having confirmed tickets will be permitted to board these special trains.

Passengers are advised to adhere all norms, SOPs related to COVID19 during the boarding, travel and at destination.

Central Railway observes Railway Week 2021

Every year Railway Week is celebrated from 10th April to 16th April to commemorate the birth of railways in India, when the first railway train ran from Boribunder (now Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai) to Tannah (Thane) a distance of 33 km o­n 16th April 1853. During this 66th Railway week celebrations, Central Railway reviews its performance in the past year, awards are given to the officials who have done extraordinary and exceptional services, road maps are planned for the coming year.  

Shri Sanjeev Mittal, General Manager, Central Railway in a virtual conference held today congratulated the railway officers and staff for achieving a freight loading of 62 million tonnes during the lockdown and unlock in 2020-21.  He also appreciated the running of shramik specials, special trains, etc. and completing infrastructural works at more than 80 locations over Central Railway.  

Shri Mittal also said the automatic coach washing plant at Wadibunder, Mumbai will help us to save time and water in cleaning the coaches thereby giving a clean and neat train for the service of passengers.
