Press Release: COMPLETION OF ROAD OVER BRIDGE IN LIEU OF LEVEL CROSSING GATE NO. 9/B/T BETWEEN JAMTARA & BODMA STATIONS IN ASANSOL DIVISION

COMPLETION OF ROAD OVER BRIDGE IN LIEU OF LEVEL CROSSING GATE NO. 9/B/T BETWEEN JAMTARA & BODMA STATIONS IN ASANSOL DIVISION

Kolkata, 22 February 2022:

The Level Crossing Gate No. 9/B/T is located between Jamtara and Bodma stations in district Jamtara of Jharkhand. Road Over Bridge construction work was sanctioned by eliminating level crossing in 2012-2013. The construction work was started on 5.3.2016 and has now been completed by Construction Department of ER at an estimated cost of Rs. 28.93 crores.

The Road Over Bridge is situated between National Highway - 419 and State Highway in Jharkhand. Construction and commissioning of this Road Over Bridge will facilitate smooth and congestion free movement for all types of road vehicles and users.  Now, even higher dimension vehicles can ply over this route.  Travel time will be subsequently reduced as vehicles would not be required to wait at this busy level crossing.  Closure of Level crossing will enhance safety of road users. It will thus contribute towards economic development of Jharkhand in general and this area in particular.

From Railway point of view, closure of this busy level crossing is a big achievement towards commitment of Indian Railways target of removing manned Level crossings from its existing network.  It will substantially enhance safety of passenger & goods train. Moreover, this will also save the running and maintenance cost of manned level crossing to the tune of Rs. 20 lakh per year.
