SCR Commissions Electrification of 134 Track Kms





- 56.50 TKMs between Lingampet Jagityal- Mortad in the state of Telangana

- 77.89 TKMs between Dharmavaram- Kadiri in the state of Andhra Pradesh

In order to provide seamless connectivity and enhanced travel experience to Rail passengers, South Central Railway has commissioned a staggering 134 Track Kms (TKMs) of Electrification of Railway lines in the last 2 days comprising of major and important sections of the Zone, taking the total electrification completed in the current financial year to 274 Route Kms. The two new sections commissioned for electrification include - Dharmavaram – Kadiri for a distance of 77.89 Track KM in Guntakal Division of Andhra Pradesh state and Lingmapet Jagityal – Morthad for a distance of 56.5 Track KM in Secunderabad Division of Telangana state.

The section between Dharmavaram - Kadiri is part of Dharmavaram - Pakala section which was converted into Broad gauge in the year 2011. This entire section was sanctioned for electrification in the year 2017-18 and under the first phase the section between Dharmavaram – Kadiri for distance of 77.89 TKM has been completed and commissioned. The works in the remaining portions are in fast progress.

The section between Lingampet Jagityal - Morthad is part of Peddapalli - Nizamabad new Railway line. The section between Peddapalli - Lingampet Jagityal for a distance of 83 Kms has already been completed. For electrification of the remaining portion between Lingmapet Jagityal – Nizamabad work has been sanctioned in the year 2017-18. Out of this, 56.5TKM between Lingmapet Jagityal – Morthad has now been completed and commissioned. The works in the remaining portion are also in fast progress.

The electrification of these railway lines will significantly strengthen Rail infrastructure in the state of Telangana & Andhra Pradesh and provide seamless movement of freight and passenger traffic o­n rails, besides reducing the enroute detentions. Electrification of railway lines in these sections immensely benefit the Railways by reducing the fuel expenditure, while also promoting energy saving. Electrification of Railway lines is also environment friendly, as it reduces the emission of carbon foot prints.

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR expressed his happiness o­n completion of electrification works in a large scale. He complemented the officials for completing the project works as per schedule. The General Manager has stated that, o­n SCR electrification works are being taken up o­n Mission mode as envisaged by Railway Ministry and the officials are striving hard to complete the electrification works as per the target

Cancellation of Trains


Due to operational reasons a traffic block has been imposed the following are cancelled as detailed below:

Trains Cancelled:

1. Train No. 57501/57502 Nizamabad – Bodhan – Nizamabad Passenger is cancelled from 10th June 2019 to 09th December, 2019.

2. Train No. 57503/57504 Mirzapali – Bodhan – Mirzapali Passenger is cancelled from 10th June 2019 to 09th December, 2019.
