ER KEEN TO PRESERVE HERITAGE STRICTURES Kolkata, April 20, 2022: Eastern Railway celebrating Heritage Week as a part of observing World Heritage Day to spread the awareness for ’Heritage and Climate’. To enable sustainable environment by preserving Heritage Structures vis-a-vis construction of new initiatives with minimum carbon footprint Eastern Railway continues the inheritance of its glorious past as the prime mover to bring industrial renaissance in Eastern India. ER has resurrected various old structures to its full glory from time to time. Dr. B.C. Roy Institute at Sealdah is one such architectural marvel in Eastern Railway which recently has been rejuvenated and reinstated at a cost of Rs. 7.31 Crore. Today's Dr B.C. Roy Institute at Sealdah , earlier known as the Clem Browne Institute with a double storied beautiful structure constructed in 1920, is unparalleled. The restoration and modernization of this institute, which is entangled in the dilapidated history of the past, was a major challenge for the Eastern Railway which has been successfully overcome. The 1st floor of this renovated marvelous mansion consists of Auditorium (total seating capacity - 298) with front lobby having beautiful architectural Dome, VIP Room, Recording Room and Control Room. Whereas, at Ground floor there are two halls having total seating capacity of 550 persons, both of which are used for various types of occasions. The auditorium has been completely redesigned with a resonant free modern sound system. The old stage has now been replaced by a new stage with 25% space which has been decorated with colorful screens, cyclorama etc. A separate control room has been built just opposite the stage which is specially capable of controlling sound and light. There is also a state-of-the-art audio recording room which is perfect in terms of quality excellence. The re-developed Dr. B.C. Roy Institute of Sealdah Division is a pride of Eastern Railway.
