INDIAN POLICE MEDAL FOR RPF SUB INSPECTOR OF PGT DIV OF SOUTHERN RAILWAY

Shri K.M.Sunil Kumar, Sub Inspector, Railway Protection Force, Tirur, Palakkad Division of Southern Railway has been awarded the prestigious Indian Police Medal for meritorious service o­n the occasion of Republic Day 2022.

Shri K.M. Sunil Kumar, initially joined Railway Protection Force in 1996 and has worked in Trichy, Salem, Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad Divisions. He is presently working as Sub Inspector, Railway Protection Force, Tirur.

During the years 2016  to 2021  it has been observed that he was successful in apprehending 14 accused concerned in Theft of Passenger Belongings resulting in registration of 15 cases with  recovery of property valued at Rs. 2,55,000/- and 10 Mobile Phones. During this period he was instrumental not o­nly in the detection of several theft of Passenger Belongings and recovery cases but also in effective control of crime against passengers as well as through seizure of contraband/Narcotics substances. He has been instrumental in the total seizure of 6,500 kgs of Ganja, 160 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, Banned Tobacco Products valued at Rs. 1,25000/- as well as stolen PDS Rice of 3910 kgs in several instances.

The Kerala Police appreciated him for his role in the seizure of Hawala cash amounting to Rs.3,44,54,500/- in the year 2018. During the past five years he was also instrumental in securing the left over passenger belongings and handing them over to the rightful owners in atleast 25 instances. He has also apprehended several criminals while o­n duty and also been actively involved in the nabbing of offenders who had booked Railway E- Tickets through IRCTC using fraudulent means.

He has also rescued as many as 23 run away children and helped rehabilitate them.

He is being awarded with the prestigious Indian Police Medal for these meritorious work done by him.

Diversion of Express train services

The following train services will be diverted o­n two different days, i.e. o­n 24thJanuary 2022 and 24th March 2022  due to disconnection of signaling arrangements in connection with doubling of track between Omalur and Metturdam of Salem Division as detailed below.

ØTrain No. 11014 Coimbatore Jn – Lokmanya Tilak Daily Express scheduled to leave Coimbatore Jn at 08.50 hrs o­n 24thJanuary 2022 and 24th March 2022 (2 days) will be diverted via Salem – Kuppam – Bangarapet, and Krishnarajapuram duly skipping stoppages at Dharmapuri and Hosur.

ØTrain No. 12678 Ernakulam Jn – KSR Bengaluru Daily Superfast Express scheduled to leave Ernakulam Jn at 09.10 hrs o­n 24thMarch 2022 will be diverted via Salem – Kuppam – Bangarapet, and Krishnarajapuram duly skipping stoppages at Dharmapuri,  Hosur, and Karmelaram.

ØTrain No. 12677 KSR Bengaluru - Ernakulam Jn Daily Superfast Express scheduled to leave KSR Bengaluru at 06.10 hrs o­n  24th March 2022 will be diverted via Krishnarajapuram – Bangarapet - Kuppam, and Salem duly skipping stoppages at Karmelaram, Hosur, and Dharmapuri.
