Kolkata, February 17, 2023: In connection with the doubling work of Bakulha – Suraimanpur – Reoti – Sahatwar in Varanasi Division of North Eastern Railway, pre non-interlocking/ non-interlocking work has been planned from 19.02.2023 to 28.02.2023. Consequently, following arrangements have been planned in train running :- Short termination/ Short origination: 13105 Sealdah – Ballia Express (journey commencing from 18.02.2023 to 27.02.2023), 13121 Kolkata – Ghazipur City Weekly Express (journey commencing on 19.02.2023 & 26.02.2023) and 13137 Kolkata – Azamgarh Weekly Express (journey commencing on 20.02.2023 & 27.02.2023) will be short terminated at Chhapra. 13106 Ballia - Sealdah Express (journey commencing from 19.02.2023 to 28.02.2023), 13122 Ghazipur City - Kolkata Weekly Express (journey commencing on 20.02.2023 & 27.02.2023) and 13138 Azamgarh - Kolkata Weekly Express (journey commencing on 21.02.2023 & 28.02.2023) will be short originated from Chhapra. Moreover, 15050 Gorakhpur – Kolkata Express (journey commencing on 22.02.2023) will be controlled for 90 minutes enroute. Inconvenience to be caused to the passengers is deeply regretted. 2

3, कोयलाघाट सà¥à¤Ÿà¥à¤°à¥€à¤Ÿ, कोलकाता – 700001, 3, Koilaghat Street, Kolkata – 700001 EASTERN RAILWAY AND METRO RAILWAY START CELEBRATION OF ICONIC WEEK – ‘AZADI KI RAIL GADI AUR STATIONS’ •Motor Bike Rally Flagged Off by GM from ER Headquarters, Kolkata Kolkata, July 18, 2022: Shri Arun Arora, General Manager, Eastern Railway and Metro Railway flagged off a motor bike rally from Eastern Railway Headquarters, Fairlie Place, Kolkata on Monday (18.7.2022) to mark the beginning of celebration of the iconic week “Azadi Ki Rail Gadi Aur Stations†as a part of observance of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in commemoration of 75 years of India’s independence. The motor bike Rally originating from Kolkata after travelling through a distance of 772 KM will reach Champaran on 27.7.2022 and thereafter the Rally will proceed to New Delhi and reach there on 14.8.2022 after covering a distance of 1466 KM. General Manager, Eastern Railway and Metro Railway , Shri Arun Arora also hold a press conference at ER Headquarters at Fairlie Place, Kolkata. Addressing the Press Conference, GM said that Indian Railways observing the iconic week of “Azadi Ki Rail Gadi Aur Stations†from 18 to 23 July 2022 in a colourful manner to highlight different stations & trains marked for having relations with Indian freedom struggle. In Eastern Railway, three trains viz., 12311/12312 Howrah – Kalka Netaji Express, 12379/12380 Howrah – Amritsar Jallianwala Bagh Express & 22321/22322 Howrah – Siuri Hool Express trains will be spotlighted in this week. He has also expressed his hope that celebration of this Iconic Week will make common people aware of the priceless contributions of our freedom fighters. GM informed that, five stations of Eastern Railway viz., Bhagalpur, Barddhaman, Jirat, Naihati & Subhashgram have also been identified for highlighting during the event Azadi Ki Rail Gadi Aur Stations. In Kolkata Metro Railway, Netaji Bhavan Metro station has been selected for its proximity with the residence of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the adjacent area ( Lala Lajpat Rai Sarani, formerly Elgin Road). It may be noted that, in Eastern Railway, Bardhaman station is associated with the freedom fighter Batukeswar Dutta, Rashbehari Bose and Atul Chandra Ghosh who were closely involved with the revolutionary movement. Jirat station is associated with Shyama Prasad Mukherjee who was an Indian politician, barrister and academician. He also served as the Minister for Industry and Supply in Independent India. Naihati station is the birth place of Sri Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay who is the author of the nationalist novel "Ananda Math" in which our national song "Vande Mataram" is included. Subhasgram station is associated with the ancestral house of legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Bhagalpur station is associated with the legendary freedom fighters viz Tilka Manjhi, Narendra Prasad Singh, Biswanath Singh, Kamala Pd.Singh, Baldev Mandal and Baleshwar Prasad Bhagat. Jamalpur station is associated with many freedom fighters like Krishna Singh, Nirapad Mukherjee, Pandit Dasrath Jha, Nemdhari Singh, Basukinath Rai, Dinanath Sahay and Jaymangal Shastri. Eastern Railway & Metro Railway will organize colourful flag off of all the spotlighted trains & special events at the earmarked stations during the week long celebration of Azadi Ki Rail Gadi Aur Stations. Video Walls, Selfie Point, Nukkad Natak, patriotic songs & cultural events will be organized at different stations marked for this purpose. Special light & sound show will also organized.
