Introduction of Stoppage at Kodaikanal Road for Two Pairs of Mail/Express Trains Hon’ble MoS Dr L Murugan inaugurated the introduction of Stoppage at Kodaikanal Road by flagging of Guruvayur - Chennai Egmore Express Today


Dr L Murugan, Hon’ble Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying inaugurated the stoppage at Kodaikanal Road for Train No. 16127/16128 Chennai Egmore - Guruvayur- Chennai Egmore Express and Train No. 17615/17616 Kachguda – Madurai – Kacheguda Weekly Express by flagging off Train No. 16128 Guruvayur- Chennai Egmore Express o­n the 15th June, 2023 today at Kodaikanal Road. Shri P. Velusamy, Hon’ble Member of Parliament and Shri S. P. Selvaraj, Chairman, Ammayanaickanur Town Panchayath attended the function. Shri P. Ananth, Divisional Railway Manager, Madurai Division, other invitees, Railway Officials and passengers also participated.


Railway Board has approved the stoppage of Train No. 16127/16128 Chennai Egmore - Guruvayur – Chennai Egmore Express & Train No. 17615/17616 Kacheguda - Madurai – Kacheguda Express o­n and from 16th June, 2023.

General Manager, Southern Railway Holds meeting with Hon’ble Members of Parliament in Madurai Division Jurisdiction

Shri B.G.Mallya, General Manager (Incharge), Southern Railway conducted a meeting with Hon’ble Members of Parliament belonging to both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, representing constituencies falling under Madurai Division o­n 18th November 2021.

The Hon’ble Members of Parliament who attended the meeting were Shri Kodikunnil Suresh, (representing Mavelikkara Lok Sabha Constituency) Shri Su.Thirunavukarasar, (representing Tiruchchirapalli Lok Sabha Constituency) Shri Vaiko (Rajya Sabha) Smt Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (representing Tuticorin Lok Sabha Constituency) Shri B.Manickam Tagore, (representing Virudhunagar Lok Sabha Constituency) Shri A.Vijayakumar (Rajya Sabha) Shri Dhanush M.Kumar (representing Tenkasi Lok Sabha Constituency) Shri Karti Chidambaram (representing Sivaganga Lok Sabha Constituency) Shri S.Gnanathiraviam (representing Tirunelveli Lok Sabha Constituency) Shri M.Mohamed Abdulla (Rajya Sabha) Shri P.Raveendhranath (representing Theni Lok Sabha Constituency) Shri K.Somaprasad (Rajya Sabha) Shri Su Venkatesan (representing Madurai Lok Sabha Constituency) Shri P.Velusamy (representing Dindigul Lok Sabha Constituency)

Shri P.Ananth, Divisional Railway Manager, Madurai Division and Principal Heads of the Departments of Southern Railway also participated in the meeting.

Shri B.G.Mallya, General Manager (Incharge) Southern Railway, welcomed the dignitaries and appraised the Hon’ble MPs about the various aspects of Southern Railway working, detailing the achievements and development of various passenger amenities and highlighted the various infrastructural developmental works that are in progress and those completed successfully during the pandemic. 

The Hon’ble MPs were informed about the various works undertaken by Railways in Madurai Division especially in respect of new line projects, o­ngoing projects, cleanliness of railway premises, station development, as well as the dedicated service of the railway employees during the pandemic lockdown and post pandemic period especially in running of Oxygen specials, Shramik Special Trains for transporting the migrant workers to their home states during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as Parcel Cargo Express Trains carrying essential commodities across the zone to serve the public.

Hon’ble MPs held discussions o­n various aspects related to train services, stoppages, passenger facilities, expeditious completion of railway projects, etc.  The Hon’ble MPs also offered their valuable suggestions for the improvement of services and development of Southern Railway.
